Ridin' High HD

In Southern California, lifted trucks can be spotted on a daily basis. However, none come as unique as RJ Roa's 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD extended cab pickup. From the massive lift to the fiberglass fenders, this truck turns heads wherever it goes.

Interestingly enough, this truck started out as a base model HD work truck equipped with the 6.0 liter Vortec engine. RJ got right to work and installed carpeting, power windows, a leather wrapped steering wheel, overhead console, and a compass mirror; items commonly found only in upper level model trucks.

RJ still wasn't satisfied driving around a truck sitting at stock level. The suspension was brought up 12 inches with the assistance of a solid CST 6-8" kit with 4" CST lift spindles and 10" Atlas leaf springs. A CST upper arm and double shock hoop were also added for extra strength. As far as shocks go, RJ decided to go with nothing but the best. Fox 2.0 reservoir shocks adorn all four corners. To go along with the huge lift are 39.5" Super Swamper TrXus STS tires mounted on 16x10 Weld Stonecrushers. For added protection up front, a CST skidplate was added to the mix.

RJ's interior was next on the list. The seats were covered in Katzkin leather with a custom embroidered logo. Also, a custom center seat was put into place. Denali handles replaced the stock units to add a little touch of class while a carbon fiber dash kit, white needles, and billet air conditioning knobs were added for a more aggressive look. The truck is brought to a halt and told to go with the assist of Trenz flame gas and brake pedals.

The exterior was brought up to RJ's standards with the help of a Pro Comp light bar with 8" lights, Glassworks fiberglass fenders with custom made fender liners, colormatched GM towing mirrors, Escalade handles, pulled bedsides, Gaylord x-2000 tonneau cover, Xenarc HIDs, clear corner turn signal lenses, Kodiak steps, and a painted rear bumper.

The audio/video system in RJ's truck is nothing short of serious. It consists of a Pioneer 7" DVD flip out monitor equiped with 5.1 digital sound. There are an additonal two monitors in the headrest for RJ's passengers. Polk Momo components are up front while Polk Audio rear speakers complete the high notes. The low notes are handled by a pair of Diamond Audio Mac Daddy 10" subwoofers powered by a JBL 1200.1. The components are powered by a PPI 4 channel amp. A MTX Thunderform Box houses the Diamond Audio Subs and occupies the underseat rear storage area. For entertainment an X-Box with a wireless remote is on call for all of the gaming needs of RJ's passengers. The audio system is connected with Rockford Fosgate audio cables and an Optima yellow top battery helps to power everything. To get the very best out of the components, 200 square feet of sound deadening was added to keep the truck quiet and allow superior audio response from all of the speakers. There are also an additional two Polk 6x9s under the tonneau cover to allow the truck to be heard wherever it goes.

Performance upgrades RJ has installed include a Volant intake, Magnaflow muffler, 5.13 gears, and a Nelson Performance custom PCM tune.

With a little prerunner inspiration, RJ Roa has built up an amazing truck in an incredibly short period of time while doing almost all of the work himself. It is easy to see why this awesome truck was chosen as a GMfullsize.com feature truck.
