2002 silverado Layin doors

I havent posted on this site in along time just cause last time i was on here people just talked shit about everything i did. but its been awhile and have done alot to the truck.

The truck was goin to be sfbd on 24s with the 06 frontend and a whole new look. i decided to tradtional bodydrop it to the doors. It will be running a 22 in the front and 24s in the back. well here are some pictures of it.

Everything thing is torn apart again. I have to make body mounts, figure out where im putting my fuel cell, tanks and compressors. then i should be getting the paint ready for paint.

Im going to be going with an ls1 or a 350 with dual carbs. I was goin to be doing the 2006 frontend but after seeing it doored im just stayin with the 2002 frontend. I should have more pictures up soon.

Thanks man. as for paint im think for some simple but really clean and bright. lol and as for the seat belts i know what your sayin and they looked like shit!lol but its because my interior had every little time to get it done so i think he use the old ones and painted them. they really looked like crap but for the price i paid i could really complain.

thats prolly the most lift youll see unless you put unijoints on the upper arm. flipping it maxes it out pretty fast ont he up travel

its been awhile and i havent really got much done on it because i moved to college station and my trucks in houston.. the whole inside of the cab has fat mat on it and the dash is setting in there. i have the old 5.3 in it and im having a few problems with it.

I did get my hands on a free ls1 intake manifold. ill be home this weekend and will get some pictures of the truck but i really wont be making progress on it till thanksgiving and christmad break.

the body mounts are final. i might end up giving them more suport but as of now there final. i didnt stock floor the frame because i really didnt want to get into the abs crap but iended up ripping it out anyways. ill probaly end up building an all new frame. sometime soon.

i know the panhard isn't in the picture, but by the location of the mount we can get a picture of how long it is.

ekstensive's kits are not the best when it comes to movement of the the rear axle. if you don't have much room with the wheels, you're likely to see the rr wheel get into the fender as the lift increases, especially if it's still setup the way it is in that picture that you just posted. IIRC ekstensive likes to setup their trucks with 4" of lift. from looking at the picture above it looks like yours is setup for less.

I've never had and problems with the suspension but I'm hoping to just ditch the Ekstensive kit soon and put I'm a 4 link.

I was going to do that. my problem is i want to run 24's. i can fit 24s easy in the back but my fenders wont even clear the 22's. i was just going to try the re8's and see how much more lift i get out of them but i dont think thats going to help to fit 24's in the front. Any ideas?

i dont mind you asking.. alot of people have asked me this question. um i guess its just with the help of my parents.. mainly my dad. he does bodywork for living so im able to get almost everything discounted. we have alot shop and we do body work there to help out with the build. Im doing all the work myself for the most part. ive also been saving money for awhile.

well up front you shoul be able to clear 24s easy if you set your bags to full compress, that way you get all the lift you can. Out back, you need to get rid of BOA if you want to untuck 24s. But either way a watts will still fit, and keep you axle from pulling side to side

the trick I use when I bag toyotas and such to untuck 20's is I pull the whole bag in towards the engine about .5 inches and obviously I use torsion style mounts where the top plate of the bag is perpendicular with the bottom at ride height and not laid out. yes when laid out the bag will have a funky angle but it should be fine. This will give you your most lift.

That or juice it and call it a day.

yea the only promblem I was having is that I needed new bags and I was just running it off of my shop compressor and it wasn't able to put out enough pressure to my bags. I put in a set of re7s that I had at my shop. You think that re8s will help out more?

its reg car paint yes. i shouldnt have any problems with the paint.. i have the engine painted silver before and i had no problems with that..but i guess we will see..

also how the hell did you get that shit not to fish eye lol. i bet theres all kinds of contaminents(sp?) on that and i bet it was a bitch to sand and prep.

thiner, and sanding.. and wax and grease remover.. didnt talk long at all about a day to clean it and a few hours to prim, paint, and clear it..

I know on engines my Dad always uses some old DP40 primer and tops it with reg paint/clear. the key is in the primer and prep as usual.

hey guy, unlike most of the people one this site i know what a 2 link does, you know what it does? it stresses the shit out of your frame cause it gets no articulation. if i pull onto a uneven surface as in a steep driveway i can hear and feel my frame twisting. yes my 2 link rides great but i dont want to stress my frame like that so i will be building a different settup when i rebuild. i was right where you are when i first got my truck but now i realize its great downfall, but if you dont have a steep driveway it should be ok. dont get all buthurt on us man. build looks good, i love that you took the time to smooth your frame and paint it that nice.

one reason why nothing has got done is the bedliner i was going to go with wouldnt work with the paint.. so i didnt know what to do. im just going to be chip guard it and then paint it.. so ill have pictures with in the next week or 2..

IDK if anyone answered your BJ breaking issues, but it is from flipping the BJ in the spindle. I had that setup for about two months and it was nothing but problems, no lift, can't turn worth a shit, broke a balljoint just lifting the truck.

You will gain at least 2 inchs of lift by going back stock style BJ and spindles. I broke my BJ on a saturday and put spindles the monday, I was so tired of that setup.
