So of course the first thing I would do to my new project would be to tune it... lol

It turned out pretty good, I just took a stab at the tune and was happy with the results. Could have made a little more but I'm not going to leave the truck stock for long, so I just left it.

Gained 25/25 not really doin much at all. That combined with some shift changes and deleting a little torque management put the little 245/75/15's sideways hitting second on the drive home haha

Haha, yeah handhelds are gimics. People love them and think they're magic... but they usually don't work very good... You can spend about the same price on a dyno tune and guaranteed see much better results!
so what did you adjust?
Just the typical adjustments you would do on a basically stock truck. More fuel down low to make it more responsive. Less up top to make it pull harder, and depending on the RPM about 2-4 degree's more timing.
Also did a lot with the transmission, made it downshift at higher speeds, upshift at 6300, increased the line pressure to firm up the shifts, and got rid of 75% of my torque management.

:head3: Thats good gains from the tune. Get going with some bolt ons and a cam and you'll be making some real good power.

Headers already on order, and I'm gonna do a 235/242 on a 115 cam w/ to accomodate the STS turbo kit I bought last night.
STS isn't really what I wanted, but I got a really good deal on it. So for now it'll be fun with the stock motor and a little boost.

Chuck is one of the best LS1 tuners around. Didn't know you were on here man. I saw the new project on myspace. I need to get my brother into your shop with his 05 GTO. I'm done in the go fast area. Low and slow for me now. You should post up some of the cars you have built.

Nice gains. I was kinda expecting a vid of the 245's breakin loose in second on the way home. lol

Nice! I have as much as +15*s in a few cells on my HO table. My tune made one hell of a difference! Nights and day. Now that I have a CAI, LTs, ORY and an open Magnaflow, its nowhere near the same animal.
Id like to dyno it, but the 35s and 4.88s would help the numebers any.. lol

Well my myspace profile is public so anybody should be able to see my photo albums... I'm thinking?
And yeah just send me a pm about your brothers GTO.

Haha yeah I'm gonna dyno it tonight with the 22's just to see how much power I "lost".

Yeah my bro is on your myspace as well. He will get with you about a cam package sometime next year. Just waiting on his pay raise. About the cars you built. What i was saying is post up some vids of some sick dyno runs or racing. These guys here love vids lol.

Nice Gains. Are you sticking w/ the 4.8? Whats headers are you going with? Would be interesting to see the truck dyno'd w/ just a header swap and note the gains...
Nice gains. Think there is any power to be had removing the cats?
what are your thoughts on efilive?
do you think there is anymore power to be had running 93 octane? would that allow for a more aggressive tune?

I didnt notice really any difference in mine and they were starting to get plugged.

You can run more timing with the higher octane, so yes its more aggressive and should get you some more power.
Sorry to hijack your thread Chuck, Im just bored. lol

I'm gonna leave the 4.8 for now and just do cam, headers, few bolt ons, and an sts turbo kit I found on ebay.
If I can make around 400-450 to the wheels I'll be happy with it as my daily driver. Nothing crazy, just a little fun and a wooosh when I let off the gas.
And I'm using Pacesetters because I can get them so cheap and have had really good luck with them on trucks... The Hookers are good but cost more and don't do any better performance wise imo.

Meh, sure a little power. Not usually much though. Maybe 5 or so to the wheels on average.
EFI Live is one program I've never tried. I've heard good things though. I just stick with my LS1 Edit because I've been using it since before all the others cam out. I feel it's solid and works great. I breeze through it quickly. But it's lost popularity because it lacks the bells and whistles like all the other new programs out there.
They're all doing the same thing end result. It's all about how much you know about what you're doing with the tables.

I've been running 87 octane in mine running 13:0 air fuel and 24 degree's of timing with stock manifolds and not a lick of detonation... (surprisingly)
I will note that the 4.8 is one of the only gen 3 GM motors that I've seen that with!

Haha yeah coming from ME!? I used to be the guy who thought modding trucks was gay...... I dunno what bug bit me but I'm enjoying the truck scene now.

I read that the 4.8 likes more timing than other ls1's. Dont know if its bs though. Maybe the shorter stroke likes more timing.
I read your blog on myspace about header coatings. Does that mean you going to get the painted pacesetters for your truck? If anything, theyre cheaper

from a stand still if you floor it does it bog for a slight sec then dart forward. Not that you care too, but will it spin the wheels good? what kind of gears do you have?
