is the suspension even gonna be strong enough for a fullsize truck? you truck probably weighs 1000-1500lbs over what a vette weighs.

thanks dick, but yes I was going to do vette suspension. Just at the time couldn't justify the price... maybe I'll build another frame...

Good luck! :head3:

i dont think ill have a problem, before i started my truck weighed right at 4k lbs. the vette stuff should remove about 200 lbs of weight, and most vettes weigh 3200-3400 lbs on real scales. i dont think 600-800 lbs is going to matter much. ill have the coilovers sprung for the extra weight, or i still might use custom stock style leaf springs, with stiffer rates. actually, the rear of the truck will weigh within 50 lbs of what the rear of the vette weighs. i would like to remove some weight from the front end. i may experiment with making some carbon, or fiberglass fenders and bumper.

i originally wanted to keep the transaxle and torque tube setup, but this would have affected the engine mounting, and i woul dhave had to adjust the length of the tube and driveshaft for wheelbase. that and the vette differential is a little weak AND gear set ups are close to $1000. the great thing about the Cobra diff is that its still a regular old 8.8 inside so gears are under $200. :0. ill be making conversion pieces for mounting the cobra section to the vette irs and offering them to the public.

Im bout to order c4 suspension, but maybe we'll go c6 cause I'm worried about the D36 holding up.

well i think im either going to use mustang axles, and modify the end that goes through the vette spindle, OR, use vette axles, and modify the end the goes into the ford diff. i think its going to be easier to do the latter. i will make a double ended splined shaft with one end 31 spline that goes into the diff, and the other end how ever many splines the inside of the vette axle has. i think i can just weld the stub in there. but i dont have all those parts yet to see. still working on cutting all the tabs and crossmembers out of the front end. hell, it tool me one whole afternoon just to clean all the gunk and undercoating off of the front frame section. now its plasma cutter fun time!

made some progress this week. cut off all the unnecessary brackets and cross members, and doing some epic grinding. ugh.

you going to jig that subframe and make a tubular representation of it or just make the subframe work?

just FYI

Steeda and Maximum Motorsports make plenty of upgrade parts and bushings for the 99-04 Cobra IRS setup, worth looking at IMO

now that im not quite sure. its going to have to be practical, but i think somewhere around a 5-7 equivalent with the suspension, and i thinki can get an inch or so out of the body with some custom mount bushings. id like the top of the tire to be pretty flush with the fender opening, perhaps just tucking slightly.
