i dropped a mug of hot colombian coffee on my floor the other day. i brew it strong and consequently my interior reeks. i scrubbed with lemon joy soap and hot water and sucked it up with the shop vac, it's still strong. help! anything i can put on the carpet to get rid of the odor?

Buy the "Auto" Febreeze it doesn't smell that bad.

doesnt tomato juice get rid of skunk smell? i'd pour some damn spaghetti sauce all up on that. or put a dead fish under the seat, you'll forget about the coffee smell real fast.

Maybe try a Downy fabric softener sheet. I think I also heard that charcoal soaks up odors. Try putting a piece of charcoal in a cloth under the seat.

You can also try some Arm & Hammer baking powder. They soak up odors.

i scrubbed the carpet again, turns out a missed a spot and spilled even more again today. i dumped a box of baking soda on the carpet, let it sit, sucked it up with the shopvac and it worked wonders. no more coffee in the truck. thanks for the advice y'all.

now my carpet looks like i'm a crack addict! apparently all of the baking soda didn't come out and once it dried it turned my carpet white. i scrubbed most of it out with a dry brush and shop vac but there's still residue. so now i got the coffee out, any advice on removing baking soda  claye

Sorry bout that man, I guess I should have told you that you was supposed to just set the whole box in there not sprinkle it on it. The box with the baking soda in it is what absorbes the smell. Sorry man!

yeah they make the baking soda with a window in the side so you dont dump it you just tear that window off and it works great!

recommended here and elswhere, and tried: turtle wax interior cleaner, window cleaner, dish soap, regular water... i removed the carpet and cleaned with joy dish soap and a little green machine for an hour, it smelled great and looked like new. till it dried, still looks like a good kilo of crack in my carpet. this shit just won't come out.

i'm going to do 1 of 2 things, dump vinegar all over it and make a volcano, or buy new carpet. i'm pissed! my own damn fault, though :suicide:

Yank your carpet out and sell it in the ghetto.

check in your local house hold stores and rent a steam cleaner for rugs/carpet. some will come with attachments for sofa, cloth chairs, look a like shop vac. take your seat out vac. all the crap from under it you might even find some $$$ under there :haha: also while the seat is out if you have cloth seat?? do it to.........
be ready for a full day to dry depending on how worm the day is..

since you have your carpet out anyway, try going nuts with some spray cleaner, scrubbing the area, then hanging it vertical and blasting it with the spray attachment on a pressure washer. i usually just use a water hose and it works wonders, but it sounds like your case may need something more extreme. just make sure your pressure washer isn't going to blow a hole through it.
the only drawback to this technique is that you have to hang your carpet for a few days depending on your climate before it dries; or you can use a shop vac first and cut the time down some...i like the steam cleaner idea though. good luck man!

does the little green machine work good? I might buy one

it works OK for most anything except coffee and baking soda... nothing you can't do without a spray bottle, scrub brush and shop vac.

i'm leaning more towards steam cleaner... i could use that for a lot of things.
