07 classic on 37s!

Well its coming along.. I got my cognito 7-9" lift on and 37s. Now I am waiting on my EFI live tunes to be sent to me and I am ready to roll. Taking it on hot rod power tour. I know its a truck but its comfortable.. and thats a long drive.

I have 3:73's and 37's (measure 36" right now) and my truck went from spinning the tires with ease when it had 32's on 20's to being a dog... if I were to keep these 37's I would be putting 4.88's in for sure.

truck looks good..lots of guys run stock gears on the dmax..sure gears wouldnt hurt, but you can get by...my buddy was running stock 3.73s and 37s with a tuner for over 2 years and had zero issues and he towed a trailer almost everyday

Talking on the duramax forums where guys have rebuilt these things say #1 is transgo jr shift kit is a must and then its all how you drive it and what tune you put on it. If you run all out all the time its a matter of months if I run mostly on like 2 or 3 witch is mild I will be fine and will last years. It comes down to if you dog on it or if you tow alot. Driving around town and on freeway and never racing it or doggin on it will be fine. I guess I will see when I get it back.

the Allison is a lot more beef of a tranny that you think.

my brother had 4.56's in his 02 dmax that had 41in Iroks and he snapped an alxe shaft and stripped a ring gear and pinion with out a single lick of trouble out of the allison and he was running a 88mm turbo, intake, 5in straight pipe, studded heads, edge system, and a quadzilla stelth II.
as well My cousin has intake, edge, and a 5in straight pipe on his dmax with 35s and stock 3.73s with no tranny trouble and he tows trailers regularly.

and i have seen both of those trucks run with the throttle on the floor a few times. brother had 85k miles on it when he sold it and my cousin has over 140k on his. not to mention my dad's dmax with 263k miles on it with intake, exaust, edge, and quadzilla stelth 2 and tows weekly hasnt hurt the allison yet!

I wouldn't spend the money regearing that truck for nothing. The 6 speed Allison is alot more stout than the 5 speed. The Transgo Jr is a great idea. I have one, just got to find the time to get it installed. Plus with EFILive you can tune the trans anyway you what to from stock to completely built. I think he'll be ok.

Regarding the gears... the Allison is a bad bitch. 3.73's and 37's are fine, as long as you don't go past the limitations of the stock Allison (general consensus is somewhere around 90hp on a stock trans). Completely different animal than a 60e or even an 80e. When you have 650ft-lbs torque, it changes things a bit.

Its just the factory gap, the angle of the pic doesnt help but there is nothing wrong with it, they all have it. Thats why they have the little black filler panel behind the parking light, to fill the gap and clean it up. Looks great to me Mark! Ill cya next week! I've heard of some guys adding spacers to get it more even but that gap is nothing compared to the one on the gmc's. Don't even worry about it. I think it's just the angle of the pic that makes it look worse than it really is anyway.

Change it up instead of the tow mirrors like mine you should get the other tows they made that are like the regular mirror but have the crinkled extended thing in the middle. Someone has to know what I'm talking about, I'll post up a pic. There's a member on here that has this mirror painted white but the middle slinky like extension part he left black and it looks BADASS. Same type truck as yours. It's actually one of the ones that pops up when you open up gmfs...I'll try to find pics but it would go right along with your truck perfect.

I believe what Bill is trying to say is that the mirrors' gears that operate the extending function are prone to breaking. Broheim Designs has rebuilt numerous mirrors like the ones on his truck. Theyr expensive if they break, but as it was stated before, you can manually slide them in and out.

Feel sorry for me then....its such a darn shame i know how to properly build a truck. When we are on a truck site its pretty basic. The more money you spend on actual quality parts, which you clearly dont know about, the better the finished product. Im a outgoing member in my community and support my charities, i would never say anyone with more money is better than anyone else. However, it comes down to you giving smart ass remarks about a truck thay is leaps and bounds better then 4 of your trucks together.

I'm not saying my truck is any better, but I do the best that I can and it's good enough for me! I hate that this forum is going down the shitter, I used to love it so much.
