(98 silverado, 5.7 V8) first the leak started off somewhere on the passengerside of the engine, now there is one on the driverside i think. i snapped some photos, maybe itll help give a better understanding with my explaination... thanks alot guys...

its a coolant leak... somewhere im guessing above the starter, maybe... i got the idea somewhere that maybe my cylinder heads are lifting or something... but i have no lose in power and there is no white smoke coming from my muffler. there seems to be a white deposite of something, possibly dried up coolant on the bottom side of the engine, like the sides of the block, on the crossover pipe, oil pan. heres some photos i snapped..

check the rear heater hose to the intake. gm has the quick connectors there and they like to rot out and cause leaks there(bitch to get out). if not check around the intake itself, or anyother of the core plugs on the block(maybe a rusted one), or any of the other coolant lines and connections for leaks. then if nothing looks to be leaking, id say its the headgaskets
.

When my OBS was leaking like that, it was the coolant lines running through the firewall to the heater core. Maybe freeze plugs also?

i reached behind the intake from the driver side and felt around. i suspect there is some coolant there. are you sure that rear heater hose/quick connect is in the rear, i follow the heater hoses and anything that might have coolant in it, theres was a quick connect on the passenger side of the intake.

could it really be a freeze plug? arent the freeze plugs on the sides of the blcok? how is it soaking that ground strap? i think i forgot to mention that it leaks alot when it wanted to, sometimes it will just leace a few noticable drips, sometimes a small puddle, i noticed that if i fill the coolant reservoir it will leak, then when the reservoir is empty, it wont leak.. what the hells up with that? i thought maybe there is a hole in the hose from the reservoir to the radiator but there is none... wouldnt the leak get worse as the engine temp goes up and builds pressure? when i come home from drive around, i let it run for about another 10 mins in the driveway and it will only have dripped a little bit... thanks, all help is greatly appreciated.

Definately the intake manifold gasket.

did you figure this one out? i have the same leak in the same places, im guessing the intake manifold gasket.

95% of 5.7 5.0 coolant leaks are intakes.
Very simple to do.
Only concern is setting the timing.

by that you mean the intake manifold gasket?

i found a leak in my heater hose quick disconnect on the front pass side of the intake manifold. i couldnt find a connector in the rear. how hard is this front connector to replace?
