would there be any difference between 10w30 and 5w30, cons and pros on both of them.

10 w 30 is going to be heavier at higher temps which in my mind means better protection.

they are both the exact same at higher temps :read:
hence the -30w :crazy:
the difference is in their viscosity at startup. GM says to use 5w-30 so i would use that. once you are warmed up they will behave the same pretty much

Yea Jeff hit it on the head.
The # before the W is the cold weight the number after is the operating temp weight.
I use 5w30 b/c that is what the manual says. Alot run 10w30 whitch is fine as long as you are not in a cold environment where the 10 would be to thick as startup to protect like it should.

Yeah here in the dirty south we use 10w30. If I lived farther morth I'd use 5
i use 5... mobil1 all the time.

Not sure but I believe the 5w is more for up north use in colder climates. I live in Texas and have always been told and have always used Mobil 1 10w-30 in mine.
