Default Double Din in my 05

I have a double din that I am wanting to install but all of the install shops want $350 to put it in. They're saying I need all these adapters etc etc.

So my question is what parts do I really need and can I do this myself?

The truck is a crew cab, has bose, onstar, xm, and steering wheel/backseat audio controls.

you will need the chime retention unit and probably a steering wheel control adapter if you want to continue to use them but i'm not sure bout the steering wheel control but i am 100% sure you will need a chime retention unit...try crutchfield

your going to need all this, and Im putting what we charge for those next to it:
99-2003 dash kit $22
40-GM10 antenna adaptor $15
SWI-PS (or JACK) depends on the radio $85
OS-2BOSE $185?

XM wont work and neither will rear controls if memory serves me right, depends on the deck and adapters I think, but they just started getting them to work recently

Typically we charge at least $200 for a DD in these plus $45 for the iPod cable and $55 for running the BT microphone if needed and maybe $100 or so for the steering wheel controls. $350 doesnt sound bad at all if thats the total
