Awesome. Not sure I am following the 19.5k part, just drive the thing. Who cares what it's worth it's got intrinsic value.

I couldn't sell the hoe for $20k with a forged 370, whipple, FLT, Auburn rear, NX wet kit, Snow meth kit, a bunch of bolt-ons, 10" dvd/tv, 22's, and every option but a subroof. I got tired of it, put it back to stock and sold the parts. Just enjoy your toy and have fun with it. | |

so now that the truck is pretty much buttoned up its time to do a cost analysis of the project. i've received several emails about this and it was discussed briefly earlier in this thread.
i saved every receipt that i could and i just went through them all and typed in their totals. i have tried to organize them by what they were mostly comprised of. *autozone/napa hardware fluids wiring - 1,475.48 wire - 14.85 hardware - 12.24 oil - 48.39 fluid + hardware - 53.32 radioshack - 10.79 hardware - 15.91 radioshack - 4.23 hoses and wire - 111.25 hardware - 8 fluid + hardware - 40 hoses fluid batts wire - 572 wire - 94.30 fluid + filters - 104 hardware - 9.23 hardware - 117 hardware 8.97 wiring - 13 wiring fluid hardware - 238 *dealer parts - 350.84 gm hardware - 18.19 gm hardware - 6.99 gm hardware - 13.33 gm hardware - 75.13 gm hardware - 56.20 tranny parts - 181 *small tools or consumable tool parts (blades/grinders) - 291.86 tools - 50 tools - 88.52 tools - 128 flaring gun - 25.34 *restoration - 1,252.61 headlights - 210 undercoat - 63 undercoat gun - 45.61 undercoat - 117 badges - 25 shift lever - 50 u joints - 141 hood - 600 *driveline and swap - 12,628.53 engine - 3300 tranny - 3354 converter - 880 harness - 923.95 dyno - 550 detroit - 404 trans cooler - 171 injectors - 460 flexplate - 115 ac fuel sensors adapters s+p - 1109.77 spare belt - 60 o2 sensors - 154 plugs - 22 exhaust pipes and labor - 650 coil - 61.61 mufflers - 199 x pipe - 84 cats - 130.20 *interior - 1,312.79 pioneer bypass - 34 dvd player - 540 bluetooth - 119 backup cam - 31 dpic - 155 a/f meter - 262 boost meter - 55.54 pod - 57 radio - 38 radio - 21.25 *truck and legal - $1,050 truck - 600 registration - 450 *total - 18,362.11 whats missing from this is all the gas used for driving all over the place chasing down all these parts and probably a few little cash purchases that had no receipts. also the original tow home. and beer and food for my friends etc etc other things that added up to just do the job in general. also all thats in the list for the rearend is the detroit, i still need to redo the brakes and buy gears and bearings so thats going to be another couple hundred maybe even a thousand. i have estimated that total man hours came to about 1000. i could do this in less time now that i have done it. so once again, i would like to suggest that this can not be done too cheaply but that if you are going for minimalism you could easily skip a couple steps that i took. (but it will be tough to get this to sub-10,000 IMO) |
