Depends on many factors, including how much you "abuse" your truck and what kind of life it has had. At the cost of them, you should be good at changing them out now with some AC Delco or NGK
i would not be changing anything at 54k. I honestly think that it would be a waste. Not that it would hurt, but you would not gain anything. If you do, just put the same ones back in, I think they are ac delco platinums. Change ur fuel filter if you have not already done so. I usually do mine every 6months. thats my 2 sense.
By new trucks, do you mean 2007 up new body style or some other?
2004 up most all V8 engines got iridium plugs and there are 10x better than platinum's. Pull one plug and look at it, chances are it still looks good at 54,000 miles. I seen iridium's with over 40,000 miles and they looked brand new still.
Word of caution, let the engine cool before removing plugs on aluminum head engines or the treads will come out with the plug.

04+ dont have fuel filters.. non-serviceable item. then again, he didnt give a year
They have fuel filters. look on your frame. Im not sure about the hd you have, but half tons have one. not too positive on 07+, but i think they all have fuel filters. someone want to correct me?
Yes, we will correct you. GM switched over to ( as eluded to before ) items that they say need little to no service. The fuel filter, for some reason, they thought would be a good idea to be one of those items. It is in the fuel pump, in the tank. While you could technically replace the filter, you are dropping the tank or removing the bed to do so. That is not normal maintenance.

The new in-tank filters never need replacing. They are lifetime filters, new technology.
All V8 engine trucks from at least 2004 up. Some V6 engine trucks continued to use the old style filter n 04.
Note - Some filter look-up guides will say there is a replaceable filter but those would be in error. My 2004 GMC 5.3L was an early build (Sept '03) and had in-talk filter system.
