ok so i have been having some starting problems with my 03 silverado. some times the truck starts fine other times i turn the key and the motor will not crank theres no sound from the starter at all. i have tested the starter its fine i have replaced my batt so it is new problem still pursists. so there is even something even weireder about this is some time when i turn the key and it doesnot fire there is a growling sound from under the dash.
i have a video of me trying to start it i turn the key 3 or 4 times with nothing happening and u should be able to hear that growling sound. then on about the fith try the truck fires!!! i dont get it!!! IF any one has any ideas or knows what this is it would be greatly apreciated as i have been dealing with this for about 5 months now http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...t=MVI_0912.flv ![]() |

How close have you looked at all the wires?I know you said the starter tested fine, but have you had someone get under there and smack it with a hammer while you have the key turned to start? Do these trucks have remote solenoids or anything like that? I haven't worked on these newer trucks much. |

i have tried taping it and also jumping the starter and it cranks so i would have to asume that its some were between the key and the wire to the starter. only thing is i have also put a volt meeter on the ing wire at the starter and i get a reading when the key is turned. i really dont know what to check next. dose ant on think and i know that this might sound farfetcted but could the lock cylinfder be bad?

I think your starting problem is the starter solenoid. I think the sound under the middle of the dash is from the heater vent motor not shure if that is a good description.

I have weird problems like this in my 99 silverado. It is mostly on real damp or cold nights. I have cleaned all my wire ends and grounds and it didnt help it. I have read somewhere that people fixed this by changing the positive battery wire. I havent gotten around to tryin that yet
