i tweaked the settings a bit, it sounds decent when i listen to rock, but it sounds like the cheap surround sound i have in my house, not what a dvc 12" sub should sound like in a reg cab. i dunno what the hell is up with it.
After looking at another MTX 600XD, I would turn all the settings/knobs/potentiometers to half way (except maybe bass boost). See if that improves the sound or not. Could you also take a picture of the enclosure?

try checking your "+" and "-" wires from the sub to the amp and make sure they dont cross anywhere
lol.. Surprisingly, that wasnt it.

Any improvements with the amp settings?
nothing. set everything to the middle, sounds like a cheap-o surround sound still. sounds decent at volume while playing rock but any kind of rap or anything with significant bass it sounds like the sub is falling down a flight of stairs.
