Default question for all the suspension experts...

ok i picked up a 85 crew cab dually im bout to start bodydropping as soon as we get room in the shop...my only real question is how do i set up the carrier bearing...im gonna do a 3.5 inch z...ive got my 22 semis for it already so a 3.5 will be plenty to lay frame with stock arms...but after i move it up do i move the carrier up the same cause if so that gonna be a hell of a trans tunnel haha...but in this pic he z'ed the frame and stock floored it but didnt appear to raise the bearing...my bearing is on top of the crossmember and his is flipped but doesnt appear to be any higher...so anybody got any ideas

Sorry dude. You may be on your own with this one. Does the tranny have to point directly at the carrier bearing? Or is that what you're asking? I bet there's a way to leave it lower.

Anytime i raise my transmission, i always raise the carrier bearing. I also raise the carrier beraing to work with my rear suspension so that I get a more usable working angle, while riding low. And honestly, the way the floor is built on these, the tunnel isn't bad. We've got the cab back on this one and its not bad at all. I will snap some more pics tonight

I think you SHOULD raise it to match to get back to factory

But I think you COULD get away with it. But if it's a daily driver it won't work very long

seems like it should be raised to be level with the transmission, otherwise the carrier bearing is going to be the lowest point. unless our ride height is really high, both driveshafts are going to angle down to the carrier bearing. you might can make it work but it wouldnt really be right

needs to be 3 degrees different than the shaft in front of it. Id say mount is as low as you can to lessen the floor hump or at least dont mount it any higher than the rest of the floor hump. Theres lots of room to move it up and down as far as driveline angles goes.
