I just received my first bottles of Adams. (Adams Virgin) Swirl & Haze, Machine Polish, Machine Wax. They had a special the other week. Buy the 2 Machine P/W and get a free S&H bottle.
Even though I'm here in MO it's going to be a nice weekend so I'm going to put the PC to work. I'll probably try out the Machine Wax since it came in the daily special. I really wanted the Americana Wax but I need something to put on a Christmas list LOL.

Either way it may snow next week or so but I'll be protected I don't care. When I lived in Cali. I used to detail the 4X4 then go mudding up in Azusa canyon the next day. LOL

God forbid if your paint has one single swirlygig, send that fucker to the crusher because there is no going back without hours upon hours of tedious 2'x2' section at a time agonizing, grueling polish and correction.

Maybe this is probably a problem in the Southwest where there's bright ass sunlight 24 hours a day, but in the rest of the country it dosen't look like a 2500w work lamp is glaring 8" away from your paints finish just sitting in a parking lot.

Shiny flawless paint makes you feel good. Oh, got it. It's psychological then. It's called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. They're prescription meds for that.

Been there, done that. On a ridiculously bright day, I'll see a few holograms on my paints finish. I spark a cig and say fuck it, it's still the nicest truck in town.
yes, believe it or not, we do have sun here in Texas. Walking back from class you can see swirls and other paint defects when the sun is directly above and my truck stands out. With the GGD sticker on the back of the truck, hopefully I have got Chris some new customers too.

yes, I do have OCD

I guess you've never been to a car meet or something in a parking lot after dark, those HID/Halogen lights make your paint look like shit unless it's kept nice. Even just getting one compliment on my paint makes it worth it. I can't believe I'm even arguing about keeping a vehicle looking really nice on a 'enthusiast forum' which goes to prove this size has become strictly a lounge forum where you talk about porn and Crunk being a dipshit

It's not right or wrong dude, you gotta understand that there's varying degrees of paint maintenance. There's nothing wrong with settling in the middle.

I maintain my truck's paint every 3-6 months or so. I rinse it off, might even hit it with some soap if it's got mud residue on it.

I ran the Honda through the auto carwash yesterday. Why? It was free with oil change. It came out looking alot better than it did when it went in.

I actually have a lot of people ask why my truck is always so clean and smooth. I just tell them that I take great care of it and don't run it thru the shitty 3 dollar car washes that rub those nasty brushes all down it.

I'm just as bad as you Ilovejdm. When people take the cheap and lazy out of washing a car and then ask why its not as clean as they want it, I just laugh at em and tell they didn't hand wash it.

I didn't spend a shit load of money for my detailing products to be an ornament on my shelf. It has a purpose and that purpose is to make my truck shine and look good.

LOL...Are you kidding? From what I have read on the forums you are one of the most OCD people on the planet. Your truck can be nothing but OEM, you flipped a shit when you couldn't find smoked corners anymore, and when the body shop had your shit and were using different parts or something not general approved it was the end of the world...infact didn't you WATCH them online while they repaired it? LOL.

I mean come on dude...you restored a fucking printer from the 80's and made sure it didn't have yellowed plastic.

I aint knocking you but don't come off as not being one crazy ass OCD mofo like the rest of us. We all need fuckin meds, don't pretend you are better than us. Some of us don't want swirls, some of us don't want yellowed plastic on our 25 year old printers that serve zero purpose in 2009 We are all fucking nuts

Called the fuck out!

C'mon, it's obvious that I'm only trying to justify the fact that I no longer can dedicate the time to hand wash my truck and have settled with tunnel washes.

I cry a little inside. I won't hide it any more.

That was awesome, but I feel you Matt with being at work all day, my wife at home pregnant and our 18 month old, I don't have the time to spend on detailing like I would if I was single or maybe if my kids were older. When they get a little older and want to do their own thing, I will have another truck/toy by then that I will be able to scrutinize and whine about. Until then fuck it, the paint isn't like some of the guys but it can be corrected.

I dont have time to hand wash my truck 90% of the time. I dont really give a shit what it looks like anymore. There are so many dings and dents and scratches from dumb fucks hitting my truck in parking lots that it is depressing! White truck that doesnt show swirls FTW. When I had my black truckthe paint looked good but it was a bitch to take care of.

would be nice to actually own one that doesn't look better covered in mud, as it covers the rust.. only owned one that looked best clean but thats the one that got rolled, so i'm just shit outta luck where trying to look pretty is concerned.. so i just concentrate on keeping them best running old beasts in the area..
they may not be pretty beasts, but they do get attention..

gotta love a dirty truck, means you had fun..

Its funny b/c it doesn't even seem to matter anymore that you tell the dealership NOT to wash b/c they'll do it anyways. I've gone so far as having the service manager rubber band a note around the shifter that says "DO NOT WASH"

Came back to find the note still exactly where it was placed and the truck has been washed. I've pretty much just given up... I'm fighting a losing battle here.

Good point, I can picture the guys they have scrubbing cars in the back getting in, looking at the note all confused, shrugging, then pulling it around back for a good old swirly wash

...precisely the reason i tell the dealership "DO NOT WASH THE VEHICLE". She comes back each time just as 'dirty' as i left her and i couldn't be happier.
