I would turn that sub outta the wall! Instead of playing into the wall, turn it into the cab and try that out.

Any improvements with the amp settings?

do you have a multimeter? If not, go to autozone or something and borrow one. Then check the impedance of both Voice coils.

nothing. set everything to the middle, sounds like a cheap-o surround sound still. sounds decent at volume while playing rock but any kind of rap or anything with significant bass it sounds like the sub is falling down a flight of stairs.

i have 15" RE SE series subs and they are hands down the highest quality and best sound of any sub ive ran

plus they arent very expensive

i recommend them to everyone

also it is a lot of fun to blow subs up lol

you can get custom voice coils but im running dual 4s (wired to 2 ohms) with two alpine 500 watt rms amps... no need for more juice this setup broke my left eardrum

lesser subs than the amp you have... your less likely to blow one overpowering it than you will if you underpower it

Come to think of it I did have one of them hooked up to a 600w rms amp in my 81 when I had that running, I hit 136 dB's in a small local competition, won my class.

guys at deca were telling me to get two 300 rms subs or one 600rms. they wanted me to go with two mtx 6500 series, but i decided no. i asked about RE they said thatd work but id need ALOT more amp for em.

I dunno what to get. My amp is pushing 600+ rms constant says guys at deca, i want what will be most effiecient with that power.

I had a single in a ported box, when I had all three in my yukon I had them in a sealed box, each chamber sealed at 1 cu ft. If I remember right we were playing with the sound meter at college one day and I hit 152 in the yukon.

They are 8812's, but a few years old, so hard to find specs for.

I think so, when I had 600 going to it it was only 1 sub. But it was a 2 channel amp, so that should have been 2 ohms right? That was a long time ago.

When I built the sealed box, everything I could find on them at the time stated that for the best all around sound, sealed was the way to go.

At one time I had 1 of them in a ported box, and it worked great there too, but they don't need to be ported.

I found that same site. Seems about right.

I don't think you'll blow through one of these anytime soon.

Don't pay much attention to the price on the CL ad either, if you want one we can work something out.
