1 inch socket and an impact gun. you will break it. then cuss for a while, head to napa and get the kit to take them out. i should have taken a picture of mine. mine has a drill bit to drill out all the old shit, a tap to re tap the threads and an easy out to attempt to get it out, iirc. its not going to be easy, but totally worth it to do it now while your intake is off.

unfortunately didn't get much of anything accomplished today
wouldn't have had this problem if my damn teacher would've told me it takes a few hrs for the parts washer to warm up to high temps when i could've turned it on before our 1.5 hrs in the classroom but the intake is clean now so i'm hoping to get this bitch done tomorrow since i'm off work. i opted to take the coolant nipple back cuz i don't wanna risk fuckin some shit up cuz im not sure how to replace it and theres nothing wrong with the one that's on there now so like the sayin goes "if it aint broke, dont fix it" |

Kev I didn't have a problem screwing mine out. And fyi, that thing WILL break eventually. They all did. Then you'll be SOL.

I don't get how that connector just unscrews from the heater hose? And I already took it back to oreillys so I guess I'll just have to roll with the one that's on there

Alot of people just ditch the quick connect altogether and use a standard nipple screwed into the manifold.

replace that thing. 1 if it aint broke dont fix it is bullshit. i just put all new belts and hoses on my truck and none of them were broke or leaking. its called preventive maintenance
2 its damn near impoosible to replace that nipple while its on the truck and it might not have been leaking but as much as you have fucked with it tryin to get it loose its probably leaking now or well on its way. 3 you didnt listen to spencer. spencer is a gm tech. go buy the gm one. they changed the design its better now. you need gm parts, |

Finally got the truck runnin again with no leaks
although it took us longer than expected because I forgot to mark where the rotor was when I pulled the distributor so had to set #1 back to TDC and did all that bs and it took us about 4 different attempts to finally get it right it was idling pretty high at first but once we started it back up after 2 or 3 starts it went back to normal idle. Must have just been the computer trying to relearn I guess |

Double check all of your vacuum hoses Kev. Those old ass PCMs don't really "relearn" as you put it.
