Default :BAWL: Dealership wash?

How bad is it gonna be? Wife's car got serviced today (motor & tranny & took care of a squeel).

I just called to see if it was going to be ready and I get, "yep, they're just finishing washing it."

I'm scared...

Just hope they didnt scratch the piss out of it with their dirty brushes. Also be prepared for globs of tire shine that will sling up the side of the vehicle onto the paint...

And, I'm not a big fan of spending the weekend in the garage polishing this beast, so anything I can do to prolong the time between polishes is a plus.

That sucks man. That is the exact reason mine doesn't go to the dealer and the fact that they are 3 times more expensive than anywhere else.

You saying I don't care about my truck

I just don't shit my pants if something other then microfiber blessed by jesus christ himself touches the finish.

I guarantee that I polish and detail my shit more than most of the guys on here.

Car washes get such a bad rap its A few car washes inbetween coats of wax and polish is not the end of the world. It takes years of neglect for anything to be irreversible.

Everyone is so fucking overly dramatic about them.

lol when i worked at the dealership we called it "flogging" the car, " hey tom don't forget to take that car through the flogger before you park it out front" that thing was notorious for taking of antennas'

if you're the god of detailing, you should know what one bad MF towel can do to your paint when removing wax, let alone taking your truck to an automatic car wash. sorry, but your awesome internet presence isn't fooling me

Here's some BRAND NEW paint that was washed once by a professional bodyshop

now do that 2 times a week and tell me how awesome your paint looks. It was just a "simple" wash, no biggie. I would love to see before/after paint pics of a dealership wash

I would rather put forth a little effort at a time doing proper washing to prevent the above from happening than taking an entire weekend to correct the paint

before pics

I haven't inspected it closely yet, but now I'll probably just let it go till the spring.

You remind me of my freshman roomate that said I was wasting time and money waxing my vehicle. that he had never waxed his dakota and it looked "flawless"

guess that entire business they refer to as 'auto detailing' I think it's called...? is a hoax

Nope. But i'd say the majority of their business are people who NEVER wash or wax their vehicles. I've seen the before/after pics. They're trashed and disgusting.

Who you trying to impress with your "perfect paint" that seriously, admit it, nobody else but you notices? Your truck is significantly more aerodynamic without micromarring?

I love it when people bust out the Halogens to show scary, intimidating swirls These folks, are the end all to be all of your paints finish. God forbid if your paint has one single swirlygig, send that fucker to the crusher because there is no going back without hours upon hours of tedious 2'x2' section at a time agonizing, grueling polish and correction.

Maybe this is probably a problem in the Southwest where there's bright ass sunlight 24 hours a day, but in the rest of the country it dosen't look like a 2500w work lamp is glaring 8" away from your paints finish just sitting in a parking lot.

Shiny flawless paint makes you feel good. Oh, got it. It's psychological then. It's called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. They're prescription meds for that.

Been there, done that. On a ridiculously bright day, I'll see a few holograms on my paints finish. I spark a cig and say fuck it, it's still the nicest truck in town.
