Default Probably going to order this sandblaster up....

Im fed up trying to find someone to sandblast for me and to be honest with you i dont trust anyone with my frame. I have too much time and money into it for someone to come along and do a ****ty job on it or damage it.

So Im going to buy some heavy plastic and make a booth in the garage to sandblast my frame. How does this look for a sandblaster? I heard a pressureised system is the only way to go and ALC is supposed to be a good brand.

I would rather spend $400 on a sandblaster than pay someone at least $200 to blast a single frame for me.

ALC Roll-About Sandblaster Holds 90 Lbs. of Abrasive

northern tool link

Also what about blasting media? What do I use?
thanks and merry x-mas

I bought the 40 lb one from harbor freight on sale for 75 bucks. Havent used it much yet because I havnt been in dallas, but I did test it out for a minute or so and it worked alot better than the cheapo gravity feed ones Ive been using. For 75 bucks, I felt like I couldnt go wrong. Im not using it for production or anything, just cleaning up axles and crap when I rebuild them for people. It should be more than enough for that. The one you linked to is ust bigger, 90 lbs of sand will last along time. Ive just used blasting sand so far, might try some other medias eventually. If your looking to spend less check out the harbor freight ones though, they may be cheaper quality but how often are you really going to use this thing?

thanks...ill look into those. They have a 110 lb one for $160 which sounds better than $370 for the alc. I may end up using this quite a bit from complete frames to stuff as small as spindles/brackets etc so it might pay to get the higher quality one.
btw what should I expect to pay for some sand?

umm at sears I pay like $4 for a 20lb bag of blasting sand. I was having problems with just cheap play sand having little rocks in it that would clog the gun so had to use the blsting sand, it worked alot better. Thats all Ive used to far, my sandblasting experiance is limited, just did my axles and some misc. small parts. I just built a huge cabnet, like 7 feet long, 2 feet deep and 2 feet tall, big enough for a complete axle housing. This way I can re-use the media whatever it may be.

I bought a blasting attachment for my pressurewasher. It handles playsand easy, and you don't breathe the silica. Much faster removal rates at 1500-2500 psi water over 60-90 psi air. When yer done, just hose the driveway off....
