Has anyone done the big 3 wire upgrade, if so did it help with the electrical system and how long did it approximately take to do? thanks. I want to see if it is even worth while to spend the money on to do.

what kind of audio equipment do you have. That will help us decide if you need it. Even if you don't have big stuff it's not a bad upgrade to do if you have lights or anything that draws alot of power from the battery

It will help. I did it to mine. Just take some wire no thinner than 4 awg and run it over your factory wires. Dont pull off your factory wires!
Go from: Alternator to Batt + Batt - to frame frame to engine block edit: some people like to fuse the wire going from batt + to alt. but I'm not fused. It took me about 15-20 mins to do |

4 feet might be enough. Just cut one for the alt to the batt and see how mush you have left. It depends on where you mount it to the frame and engine block.
Here is an idea of where you can mount the wire to the frame and engine block... ![]() ![]() |

better current flow. If you have alot of electronics, you wont have as much current draw if you upgrade the wires.

gotcha, i got it for my stereo, because it is such a long run i figured it would be better than the 4awg needed.. so since i got a good price i ordered enough for the big 3 also, i think i got it for like $2shipped a foot.... also, it does make a difference, on only 300 watts i would dimm pre big 3, post big 3 i dont dimm on 800 watts.

Its resistance ,efficiency, and heat. The larger the guage the wire is the less resistance you have allowing every amp of current to flow immediately.Less resistance less heat. Less heat is good for the longevity and dependabilty of every component in the whole voltage system. If you run dual alternators or high amp alternators with out the big three you are cheating your self. Its like having a firetruck hooked up to a gardenhose.Twankydeuce: That can't be the alt I sent you.......have I been replaced?LOL | |
