I want to wire in a led strip for both driver and passenger. I wanted to get feedback on how y'all did it, I know how to just wanted other ideas. I want it to come on when doors open.
Mine doesn't have those lights, that's why I wanted the led strip. I tied them in earlier to a switch hot wire so when switch is on, their turned on(I put key in before I get in truck- I don't know why though).
i wired a little cheap set of 12" strips i got from amazon. I didnt want color changing so i just bought red. I bought a wooden dowel from lowes, and I bought a little $7 led controller module with a remote from amazon. I wired my input to the controller to the light output of my headlight switch. I wired the ground to ground(obviously). I then took the hot and ground connections and ran then to the farthest strip. My placement for the other strips (i did 3 because I dont have a console) were placed on the dowel and i tapped into the wired lead for the farthest light depending on where the light placement fell. Now my lights only come on when my parking lights or more are active and I have a remote I can shut them off if I want and dim them to get the brightness where i desire. They also do crazy flashing and what not but I dont care anything about that.
I'm not into changing lights or nothing but I like how it is bright and I can see when I get up in my truck at night now.
