got my truck back a few weeks ago after wrecking it in December. just picked up a set of OEM cladded GMC 20s. they are the less ugly ones and I kind of like how they look but I'm thinking about decladding them. I've seen many how to threads but I just wanted suggestions on the best techniques and products to use the get all the glue off and clean them up. painting them is also an option just like the polished look.

I used an orbital sander down to 1500 and then wet sanded by hand to 2000. Anything less and you won't be able to polish out very well.

I wouldn't paint those wheels black after doing all of that work either. Might as well just paint the cladding.

I would've polished those suckers up rather than painting them black, especially with the amount of work involved to get them clean :imo

That's one reason I've kept mine unpainted. But, I need to find a good way to keep them shiny. I was about to use some steel wool on them, but it was hot this weekend.

On a side note, has anyone figured out a clean solution for 5 spoke center caps that isn't custom billet?
I'll just leave this right here. http://www.gmfullsize.com/threads/broke-free-from-chrome-clad.298993/page-5#post-5799418

They will be going on a RCSB NBS Sierra (pictured).
Where have I heard this before?

Also next time never Use that stuff on the wheels when Its on the truck. You dont want it getting onto the brakes
