My compressor stop running so I cannot lift my truck up and it's my only vehicle. It makes a clicking noise when i hit the up/down switch, when I turn the vehicle on. I hope I make sense.

I am trying to figure out what to do cause I'm in a wheelchair to instruct someone what to do. It was installed, my setup in houston and I'm 2 1/2 hrs away.

I'm going to give you a quick response just so you have something to start going off of but hopefully others will chime in. It could possibly just be a bad solenoid. I understand you are not mobile but if you have someone that can give you a hand all you have to do is change the positive and negative in and positive negative out. Should just be 4 bolts.

What's your setup? Sounds like your tank is empty from the compressor(s) not filling the tank. I'd get someone to check the fuse and relay to the compressor first. The clicking noise you hear is from you valves.

so the tanks have air?

what kinda control?

assuming the 80 amp stinger relay isn't bad, because that's unlikely considering its rated for double what is actually passing through it, and the main fuse to the relay isn't blown. then the issue is in the system. if the compressors were running constantly, for more than 5 mins at the most, then you have one of two things wrong in the system.

A. the seals in the compressors around the piston or sleeve inside the head of compressor are worn and causing blow-by and the compressors output is severely lessened. this is normal for compressors with a lot of runtime. wear can be exaggerated if mounted on their side.

B. the pressure switch on the tank has went bad and causes the compressors to continuously run passed the shutoff pressure and can also harm the compressors and cause the valves to not to be able to open since the valves open against tank pressure.

Both scenarios result in the same thing though. the compressors will run constantly and eventually quit working all together. may just need a cooling off period or they can be shorted out.

recommendations to avoid any of these scenarios

1. Install a blowoff valve on your tank this time around that releases any pressure above 200 psi to let you know when a pressure switch or relay/solenoid does go bad. if the blowoff valve opens, you will know that something is wrong and you need to turn the truck off or shutoff the compressors if they're on a switch.
2. Install a computer based system that notifies you of these issues, Accuair or Airlift for example. its a more expensive option but well worth the money for issues like so.
3. run separate circuits for each compressor, so that if the relay/solenoid or fuse to one is the problem, the other will still run and keep you going.

chances are, your compressors are no longer any good. so these things would only good for you moving forward after replacing the necessary parts. with a few more details, the actual cause could be determined and fixed. again, it could be something simple like a fuse or bad solenoid.

Excuse my ignorance. Does one 5gallon tank equal one pressure switch? or one pressure switch to each switch up/down?
I have a brand new compressor viair on deck as a spare. I'm trying to nget it lift to make itt to Houston to fix it properly. I know where my relay is located. solenoid/ relay same thing? Where is the fuse located?
I' just want to explain to the guy who will help me fix it to get it to the shop..
any valve problems

Did your compressor(s) turn on as soon as you turned on your truck? The fuse to the solenoid/relay might have blown. If you know where its at, simply follow the cable that goes from the battery to it, there should be a fuse by the battery. If the fuse is good, then it sounds like the compressor isn't getting any power or is bad. If your installer put a fuse between the solenoid/relay and the compressor, that might be blown...never seen one in between but its possible.

The guy who will help you fix it will have to do some troubleshooting....we don't know how your stuff is wired/setup and can only give basic advice.
