Long time reader, first time poster. Bear with me.

Just picked up an 06 denali With 180k all original for a good price. Well taken care of and in decent shape.

Just sold my first build; 05 2500hd 6.0/4l80 combo. It had LTs, UD pulleys, slp air kit, dynoMax exhaust, 2" level and 1.5" body lift on 35 trail grapplers/18x9 ion alloy wheels.

I wanna do a lot of the same things to this truck. But first thing is losing the mudflaps and denali step bars. Big picture is rebuilt bottom end, PAC 1218 springs, cam, lifters, and a blower.

Got the Denali bars off and those ugly mud flaps this evening.

Gonna have to get some new body bushings, they were pretty rusted out and a bi*** to get loose.

Got new fig lights in today, didn't realize I would need the bezels to go with it. New headlights are comin in tommorow or so, along with new black grill. Gotta get rid of the red GMC logo lol. Gonna paint it black and put a denali badge across the front. Should be gettin her at least leveled end of the week maybe first of next , then a 1-1.5" BL to stuff some (hopefully 295/55/r20)

Well was installing headers yesterday and today, noticed it had two broken manifold bolts.

Got one out, the other was the last hole next to firewall on driver side. Tried to weld the bastard and screw it out but it won't work. Can't drill it cause of the angle. So, did the only thing I knew to do. broke the news to wife and gonna go ahead and pull heads send to machine shop, do cam, lifters, moly pushrods, & PAC springs.

that's one hell of a nice fix.... like the build so far.

Thanks. Go big or go home right?

Speaking of. I'm looking at a .575" lift
220/224 112 lsa
62* overlap. Would that be too big without a stall? I am going to put one in in the future, just not right now. My wife drives this thing some and she don't know how to two foot the pedals at idle speeds. Lol. I want a good lumpy idle that's driveable. Also looking at the 216/220

Finished gettin the heads off earlier. Besides a good bit of carbon on top of the piston, the motor is in good shape. Cylinders have good cross hatching left, underneath the valley plate clean as a whistle. Will know more when I pull the cam. But so far so good.

Any tips y'all have for cleaning the deck and bore real good?

Well, this keeps getting deeper and deeper. Went ahead an prepped for overhaul. Spent today getting everything ready to pull engine tommorow, and gonna get new bearings and rod bolts all way around. New gaskets, rear main & front main seal, rings, circle d 26-3k stall, front trans seal, Vette servo and a tru cool 40k. Woo. Trucks gonna be down a minute until I can get everything bought and back together. If y'all know a cheaper place to buy (not eBay) some quality stuff, plz let me know. I would like to keep the rotating assembly the same minus the pistons. Maybe I can just clean those up and reuse those. Any advice y'all got for while it's torn down I'm all ears. Thanks

Well got motor to machine shop for a freshen up. Heads are there too. So gonna fix a little wiring and clean up the bay a little bit. when I was pulling the motor, I thought the bell housing dowl pins were sticking, so I took a little flathead and pried, heard a pop. Once got engine out I realized the noise was a chip out of the bell housing. Great.

Will be ordering a circle d 278mm 3200 stall sometime in the next week.

This build escalated quickly... should be stout when all done. I'd like to see what a "fast" build looks like. You e done more in a couple weeks than I've done in almost two years. Lol

It wasn't supposed to be this fast. That's what my wife says anyway. Lol.

It's easy gettin it all apart, should be fun getting everything back together. Got eyes closed and fingers crossed machine shop will call with good news sometime this week.
