I have an 03 gmc yukon xl denali with the nr3 awd transfer case...

Im rebuilding the case with new bearings and seals, and also replacing the brass bushing in the output shaft, but i didn't mark the timing on the gears so the inner sprocket on the output shaft that slides into the planetary gears won't line up..

Is there a method to lining them up? I see little circles notched on the planetary gears, and also a notch on the big sprocket that spins the chain, and also the chain has dark chain links looking to be lined up..

I didn't mark the inner sprocket, and now inner sprocket won't slide into the planetary
...

Is there a standard way of lining these gears up??

Thanks for any help, I wanna scream knowing I cant get this back together!!!

This is before replacing the brass bushing since I havnt done that yet, tomorrow, thinking maybe the slop in the bushing won't seat it straight on?? I don't know, I'll find out more when I do the bushing too, but hoping for some sage advice..

Well, we figured it out...

You just have to keep spinning it and it will eventually just fall right in..

Replacing the brass bushing helped keep it centered and sliding on flush...

Took about 5 minutes of spinning, but i found the sweet spot... it just falls in when you line them up right..

And for the record, they don't need to be lined up... bu ii would definetly recommend marking the gears with a black permanent marker so there is no confusion upon rebuild!!
