So I figured I'd start a build thread so people could follow along and maybe give their best positive input lol (constructive input is good too). I'm still new to the truck scene. I owned a camaro before this, that was totaled about 2 years ago (got t-boned by a driver who ran a stop sign).

My build is a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2wd w/ the 4 speed tranny...At the moment I have:
  • 10-12" Cognito lift
    • 8" Deaver leaf springs w/ 3.5" angled block
    • Bilstein front shocks (uses the hardware and spring from the stockers)
    • Bilstein 5125 in the rear (extended: 34.97 collapsed: 20.75 travel: 14.3" p/n: 33185576)
    • Complete front Congito lift
  • Ballistic Rage 959 22x12 wheels 4.77 backspacing -44mm offset (with Gorilla wheel locks)
  • Atturo 37x13.5 Trail Blades
  • 2" Supreme Suspension Spacers for the rear only (the Cognito kit widens the front by 2")

Also planning on:
  • Regearing to 4.88 when I get the lift installed
  • Viper alarm (3305V - opted for the security system only, cheaper and I've never used remote start before)
  • Window tint
  • Debadge
  • Upgrading to the 4wd Timken hubs (3rd generation)
  • Probably going to go with MOOG UCAs ball joints and MOOG lower ball joints
  • Debating on RCX tie rod sleeves or FFR heim tres. The RCX would allow me to keep the stock tres though which would be good for servicing them in the future
PLEASE let me know if you see anything missing...I'm trying to cover all my bases here. I plan on keeping the truck for A LONG TIME so I want to do things right. I also want to make sure it stays SAFE. Plans are to just have a fun truck I can take for the occasional offroad session...no mud, no jumps or anything crazy.

don't see any performance upgrades

@Phildirt Glad to see you in here man, you've been a big help so far.

I'm going with the Timken 4wd hubs and cv snout method for the front. I'm considering making a how-to in this thread. I think that should be sufficient until I do some kind of front axle conversion/upgrade.

@ScottZ71Lyfe For sure I have a buddy that has his f150 tuned. Once I can make sure the lift and everything is working out I would love a tune

 Phil, scott, stop. Leave OP's thread be.

OP, off to a decent start, those wheels suck, but I hate black wheels. Cognito is good shit, glad you picked up decent stuff to work with.

4wd Timken hubs and cv stouts test fit together. Any way you guys suggest making sure the cv nut stays on? Loctite for sure...I might throw on another something behind it. Still gotta clean them up a bit

Just plenty of torque will hold them on. I use an air impact. Never had any issues.

Planning on an early January installation

Installation for the lift, UCAs, lower ball joints, hub bearings is running me about $1000.

I'm planning on going with a limited slip differential in the rear with the 4.88s

Went ahead with the Viper 5706v remote start alarm w/ added tilt sensor as well lol...it's been cold here lately

Dropped it off today man - should be getting it back by tomorrow afternoon or possibly Friday.

I took a couple "before" pictures yesterday morning, so it'll be fun to compare to the after.

The front shocks have the adjustable snap ring, so we're setting it up on the top slot - the full 12" in the front. I may end up with a slight cali-lean which I'd be fine with. The rear struts are similar to yours, except I got ones with a 14" stroke - front and rear are both bilstein.

How'd your truck ride before compared to after?? You have the 8" leaf springs in the rear too?

Got a couple before pictures and lift install pictures...

On the lift install, the driveshaft was running right into the crossmember - this is with the 3.5 angled block and 8" leaf springs. Not sure if this is something Cognito is aware of or not, but we're having to cut the corssmember to go around the driveshaft

Middle top of front fender measured at 36", rear was at 38". @MotoHead @Phildirt What do you guys think?

I didn't, I think the shop I'm getting it at would've checked. For sure I'll check when I pick the truck up, but I'm thinking that crossmember would be in the way. From the pics it looks like even leveling the truck the angle would still be too much. I'll have some after pics soon. I just haven't seen under my truck too much to have it memorized like I'd like, ya know

Nice to see the lift on. What do the Cognito instructions say to do about that crossmember? Do they mention it will need to be modified if you exceed a certain lift size for the rear? I don't have that crossmember on my truck so I can't say I have had to deal with that issue.
Man they don't really mention that one specifically that I can tell. They show cutting one in their instruction manual, but that one is bolted on - mine was welded. It may just be an option thing or something different between the 2wd and 4wd. I'm not sure if all trucks have them like you mentioned too

I thought they'd finish up today, but they had to get different gears so it's looking like I'll get it back Monday now.

Next I've gotta start looking for a 14 bolt rear end

So...what do you guys think?!

Honestly it's a treat to drive so far, I love it.

I've babied the shit out of it so far lol

Fenders are close to 53" - I need to get exact measurements, tires stick out about 6.5" (about half the width of the tire). The HIDs are blinding everyone lol and they are only 35w

I'm probably going to remove my spare tire too

It's just been dark after I get off work or raining...makes things a little difficult!
