Since a tailgate lock didn’t come stock from GM for the 03-06 trucks, has anyone used an aftermarket lock? If so, thoughts? Is it as secure as the 07+ locking mechanism?

The pop n lock looks similar to this GM option.

it does...what I liked also was that the pop n lock tightens the bezel up against the tailgate skin...so if your bezel is broken or a lil loose, it fixes that as well. The bully (I had that one too) never fit good and would rattle a lil.

Would you agree that the GM one is almost an exact copy of the pop lock version? Or can you tell a difference in the design since you have the pop lock one?

Handle is on the inside, I have a roll-n-lock that I can open independently. You would need a cover that you can open first and then the tailgate.
