The gauge still reads good, 55-60 pounds of oil pressure on average. The leak started all of a sudden. Truck used to drop about 2 drops in a couple days. Then when it got cold here now it's a lot more. I know a 12 inch circle isn't a whole lot of oil, but it throws a red flag with me that it started like that

Any oil leak should be a red flag

Yeah I agree, I just mean it happened so fast.. And not just like a drop or two. Makes me worry it'll just all of a sudden blow up on me going down the road. I'm gonna get a good look today and try and see where it starts at

oil pressure sensor could leak and still give good reading the one in my wifes suburban done that. Could also be the little block off plate up by the oil filter.

So today I hopped in the truck, started it up and loud ticking sound. Increases with rpm. Truck seems to maybe be down just a little bit on power. Oil leak is still there. Not the pressure sensor. Parked it. No water leak so I don’t think it’s the water pump

Oil level isn’t much below full. Like an eighth of an inch

Now that I think about it mine did the same and it was actually an exhaust leak from the manifold gasket

It is there at all times, cold or warm. I parked the truck at a relatives house for an hour came back out and there it was.

Ticking if probably lifters. Knocking you've got bigger issues. If it's not pressure sensor that still leaves valve cover gaskets, rear main, oil pan and block off plate to be checked.

Exactly what I was thinking.. probably going to pull the valve covers one day this week and try to figure the noise out

These motors have noisey valvetrains. Unless it is a loud ticking followed with a miss then i wouldnt be to concerned with it. Sometimes running seafoam or something similar through the oil will help quite the lifters.

I know the noise you are referring to and it did used to do this but now it is a different noise.. it is an extremely loud tick can hear it over exhaust going down the road
