I do a lot of hunting and spotting on property all over Texas and with my last Silverado I could kill the headlights and move around with just my spot light. New truck, not so much.

Forces the headlights on if the truck goes in drive no matter what. Any suggestions?

Can't you just rotate the rotary headlight switch to the left and it will kill all external lights? My '07 will let you do so. If it is on auto, just rotate it to the position to the left, which should have an on/off symbol. The button will rotate back, but the lights should stay off.

Brotha I wish that was the case. My last Silverado was an nnbs '07 and I could do the same. I guess they reprogrammed because if i'm in drive that won't kill the lights.

    Thanks anyways friend

I've only ever heard of Canadian trucks not being able to turnoff the headlights because of a law up there. That's strange.

That's funky. First I've heard of this one. Post a pic of your dashboard to the left of the steering wheel

Not my truck but same dash. Left side panel has the light knob, dome switch/override, and 4wd knob.

So your knob is set on the auto, correct? You can't give the knob a quick counter clockwise rotation? It will automatically spring back to the auto position but as long as you click it there once it should turn off the DRLs

I'm thinking this won't do the trick. This will only disable the sensor on the dash, wouldn't change the setting that turns them on regardless when I put it in gear.

I know it seems fishy but i'm thinking I may have a truck that was up in Canada at one point. I'll have to run the VIN and find out.

I owned a 07.5 before this one and the lights would turn off, even in gear, when I pushed the knob counter clock and they would stay off (the knob would go back to auto) until i restarted the truck or turned the knob again.

I guess that may be the only option other that a dealer reprogramming the computer.

I have an 07 Classic that was originally sold in Canada and my lights don't turn off. I am wondering if these are like VW switches in the older cars. In the older VW's (most of my experience with this is the mark 3 Jetta's and GTI's), they have no provision for the marker lights, so guys switch out the light switch for the Euro version which does have the marker light setting, I wonder if you can do this in these trucks, so you could switch off the lights?

That's honestly an approach I hadn't thought of but i'd have to check with a dealer first. I remember back in the day installing aftermarket fog lights and I wanted to install an oem button but was told it would
require a complete reprogram of the trucks OS and didnt wanna mess around with that.

Might be the same concept swapping switches but also could be the easy fix. Thanks so much, i'll let you know what the dealer says.

Yeah, now I want to know, I hate that I cannot turn the headlights off when I park! And I generally hate DRL's, but I can put up with them lol

I don't know if this will work on the 2013 but on the 2001-2006, if you push the dome light switch three times quickly it disengages the automatic headlights until the next time you start the car.
