Sounds like whoever installed the remote starter did not hook up a RAP shut off wire. If this is something you do often, take it back to where it was installed and ask them to hook it up for you. It's a simple as hooking up the arm or pulse after shutdown wire off the remote start brain to the drivers door pin wire.

I realize this is an older post, but hopefully some guys are still montoring.

I hooked up a 3.5mm male jack to the XM output as follows:

    Left: Green wire
    Right: Orange wire
Ground: Black wire in the corner, as shown

I used T-Taps from Radioshack and they seem to be making good connection.

When I plug in my MP3 player I briefly hear music, but then it cuts out the stereo. Seems like some kind of overload. Thoughts?

I had a write-up of this same method in this thread. Post 8 http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=165670

I tapped into it at the headunit instead of the XM module, seemed easier to me since I needed to take it apart to route the cable anyways.

You are overloading unless you're on channel 0. If you're not breaking the circuit with a 5 pin jack, (and you're not, since you're using t-taps) then you're trying to feed 2 signals into the HU at once.

I ran into problems doing this I tried it a while back and plugged my iPod in and it won't turn on. It didn't completely cut the wires only skinned them back and connected and it didn't work. So I'm assuming I need to cut the wires completely?

Well I tried again today and no luck. I put the orange and green wires to the back and black with white strip in the corner to the top post and my radio will not even go on xm. What am I doing wrong? I must be using the wrong wires. Could someone post What wires go Where and how exactly to connect them?

It says earlier in this thread that you use the Green/white and Brown/White And the bottom Black/white wires

( done this mod today....Just awesome..... it beats the $60 wire kit)
