Strange, the unit that is in my brothers truck still retains the FM settings.

I've done this to 2 radios now and they lose everything but the time when you shut the truck on and off. Oh well I can deal with it not having to pay the dealer to do something.

I guess that's the difference in the radios? I'm not sure. You could just try lifting the pin that powers the EEPROM and see if it yields any different results for you.

No, I don't think so. That is a reprogram, which is different from vin locked. So you can go from BOSE to BOSE, or non bose to non bose, UQ3 to UQ3 etc...

The radio I did this to for my 05 was a 6 disc it worked fine other than losing all the settings but the clock everytime you shut the truck off.

I need some help guys im trying to find the thread to add auxiliary in on a factory bose. Ive searched on my phone and cant find it. I think coop made the thread and he bypassed xm on bose radios and used it as an aux input. Im heading to radioshack shortly and i need to know what parts to get. Thanks for anyone who can help

Well Coop's method works, but I messed up. Got the pin off, works exactly as it should. But when I was making sure I got all of it off, accidently lightly scratched the circuit board and now the power shuts off completely. Weird thing is that if apply pressure with my finger to the area, it functions just fine. Makes me think that it's fixable and that I might have just broke one of the little track's that carry current. Just don't know how to fix it.

What about just swapping the EEPROM from your old radio to the new one? No more losing settings and presets....

This was my thought. Next time I have one sitting around I'll have to screw around and see if I can get it to work.

Has anyone tried swapping eproms from the old radio to the new radio? Do the presets stay or get erased?
