It is really easy although the pics help a lot! If you need a hand you can shoot me a pm. I remember a little bit of what I had to do. It was quite a while ago though.

For anyone doing this because their handle doesn't retract fully, you don't need to replace the handle. You might think the spring is weakening or the other stuff on that end is unlubricated, but it's not. The hinge on the other end of the handle is worn or binding and needs to be replaced.

Solution: Drill out the hinge pin at the rivet end and replace it with a 2 1/2 inch long #10-24 bolt. Not wanting to crank down the nut too much I decided to use Loctite and two more nuts as jam nuts.

$1.29 and it's fixed. Mine operates like new again.

Wrong thread dude. this is for 99-07Classic trucks.

To answer your question: I don't know, did you try searching? Maybe a clip isn't in place properly.

Search before posting a new thread.

Best 30 bucks I've spent on the truck. Makes such a difference over the black stockers.

Absolutely. Only $30, thats an excellent price. Did you rattle can 'em, or did someone cut you a deal?

OEM. Found both on ebay. Driver's side was $20 shipped. Was going to pay $37 for the passenger side. But the seller notified me that a tab was broken off when taking it off. I told them to send it to me and refund all but the shipping and he agreed to. So I paid 10 bucks for it and was able to easily fix the tab.
