Of course your factory accessories do this. He is giving us information so we can wire aftermarket accessories to it.

what would be a purpose of using the RAP? would it be like having an amp and instead of having a wire harness for an aftermarket head unit and using the remote wire on the wiring harness, just hooking the remote wire to this RAP location. so like hooking up some subs and an amp with your factory radio? or am I way off?

an amp or doing an aftermarket radio without the harness if you dont care about chimes or onstar. Also for hooking up radar detectors or gauges or other stuff like that

Is this the same for the NBS trucks like for my 08 Sierra? I ordered an Escort 9500xi Live with the hardwire kit and will be installing some accessory led lights.

Do all models come with RAP, or is it an option?

I just took in an 02 base model w/ a V6, and the stereo dies as soon as I remove the key- but all the lights work so I'm assuming the door switches are OK?

Thanks Forklift. Don't know howi missed this thread but I've been wishing for something like this for about 3 years. Took me 30 seconds to fix my radio wiring and it's so much more enjoyable.

If I plan on hardwiring an escort radar detector should I relay it? Or will I be good just wiring in the power to this location and grounding it?

    Just a brief FYI...

I run a ham radio (Kenwood TM281A) in both my trucks ('07 Tahoe / '13 Silverado). The radio draws up to 14A when I transmit @ 65 watts.
In my Tahoe, I had to use the pin just above the one pictured, or my ham radio would cut out when transmitting.
In my Silverado, I was able to use the lower pin that the OP used in his picture.

Either way, I wanted to thank the OP for the info... as I was unaware of this RAP availability and now I don't need to worry about my radios draining my battery if I forget to turn them off.

Sofar, they have been working fine... but if I experience any more issues, I will throw a 30A relay between the RAP and the radios.

2010 rclb 4.3 wt...location worked for me for my pioneer double din, no relay.
    And the spot was vacant.

Just one question, what connector are you using to plug on to the location? It looks like a leg off a fuse. I have a crimped spade connector on it now, but would like something better.
