This might be alot more helpful to someone if you explained how you got the mirror out. I spent 15mins trying to figure out how you got to the clips from the backside of the mirror cause the pictures showed the backside. Then figured out that wasn't the way to go about it at all. Just saying...other than that I really appreciate the write up on this.

Take a flat head screwdriver and lay a rag underneath it while you pry up on and around the cap. There is some 3m tape behind them fyi. Just take your time and you should be able to pull it right off.

I start off with a 180 grit then work it down to like a 320...finish with a 600 wet sand paper, then adhesive promoter and primer. The smoother it is before primer, the fewer plastic hairs sticking up you will have to deal with.

Would you mind elaborating a bit more on this? Maybe some photos?

I think my spring popped off or something too. Thing flops like mad and twists with the wind! Mine are not power fold, or heated, just power to the mirror adj. that's all.

can anyone tell me how hard it is to run the power on power mirrors?
I currently have manual mirrors but know of a parts truck that has power mirrors. Just wondering how much of a pain wiring it up would be?

120 grid should be fine, than hit it again with something finer (something like 400).

Thanks, Info was key in repairing sprung cap.
I was able to reassemble with full spring using a C-clamp on the rear side of the ring then prying the front side down over the pipe with the same small torques used on the mirror screws.
Might mention that removing the front decorator cap has nothing to do with the mirror disassemble or workings.
