Ok so this sounds easy enough. Besides cutting the old GMC logo out, can you see any of the chrome from the OEM grille through the billet? It sure seems like a ton of chrome to just 'disappear' behind the insert.

I don't think a bolt over with the center cut out would look good with a chrome grille. If it were black I'd say go with it. I'd get a cut out if I were you.

Ugh, this sounds like more of a PITA than I wanted. Im assuming by cut out I'm going to end up cutting all the chrome bars out?

Any experience with the carriage works grille?

I really like Frank the Tanks grille he had on his truck, but thats a bolt over too right? I'm thinking I might just be SOL.

Yeah thats why they call it a cut out lol. If you just want to do it and get it over with you can tape up and flat black the center chrome bars then cut out the GMC area and put a bolt over in. Not the "professional" way of doing it but at least it will get you where you want to be.

Alright, well I guess I'll just bite the bullet and get the cut out. Thanks for the info.

I know this thread is super old but I cannot find anything in a search.

I went with a carriage works cut out grill and I am very happy with it.

I would like to go with a billet valence grill tat covers the full opening not just between the tow hooks but carriage works only offers between the tow hooks? Has anyone else used a different brand lower grill with the carriage works upper grill, I am curious if they match up or not?

Hey man thanks for the photo! It looks like they match up pretty good I wonder how the finish would match, my carriage works grill is polished.
