ended up shaving the nut right at the closest point to the rad support...it was making contact. Had to open up the hole in the bucket some as well. Got any pics of the support notch?
I tried to find some, and I don't have any on my phone. Next time they're out, I'll snap pictures
I'm going to do another retrofit in the coming months. Going to use the D2S 4.0s this go round
I have these about wrapped up. Waiting for some JB weld to cure now
went back and notched the rad support too. This gave me the needed space to be able to slip the headlight on/off w/o hitting the bulb or motoho1der. Aligning these h1's is a little bitch so I want to be able to install them w/o messing with alignment.
Looks perfect. Did you shave the mounting tabs down at all on the bottom of the headlight that slips into the truck bracket? I find it easier to remove the grill shell to get mine out do to those tabs
did not...I really should tho, that's a good idea...hadn't thought of doing that. I noticed the headlights have some play up and down/side to side so I ziptied them down right at those tabs and were good to go but they are a bitch trying to pull them out. thanks for the tip
Got everything sealed up on these 06 Silverado heads last night. Going to give the lenses a good buffing tonight and get them packed for shipping
Got the mew morimoto D2S 4.0 projectors in today. I like the upgraded screws on the sides instead of rivits on the 3.0s. I plan on filing down the upper part of the shield to knock the step down a little. Looking forward to getting these done, but it will be a lil while. Kids sports and work going to be keeping me busy
those are beautiful
And so it begins.......started my second retro for my truck. Got the headlight assemblies pulled apart. Might get some more progress tomorrow, but not too worried if I don't. Thought about putting LED's behind the buckets for a glow effect, but read about too many issues with the morimoto app for the Bluetooth controller. So probably going to skip that, do just a straight forward retro.
You can always just paint the shields and have a passive demon eye.
I thought about doing that. I have the color match paint to do it. Was looking to do something like this.
Nice pics and options with these. I'm starting to get info for doing my retro on my 07 NNBS Silverado
Those brackets would be great, but fuck paying that kinda money for those. Not worth it. I'm sure it would make it stupid easy, but holy jesus
Any questions, feel free to ask. There is a lot of good info in this thread too. I think I've read through it about 10 times
I paid to have mine done some people don't mind paying for the convenience
I talked to a guy out of St Louis, pretty sure it was The Retro Shop (????), said he had brackets for $80. I could see doing that for convenience. But for the D2S that I'm doing, said it was $240 for them on that site.
