My wife and I are in the Market to get family wagon as our second child is on the way and my wife's volunteer work has her carting around a few adults along with our son 3 days a week. Once we have 2 Children she is going to need more seats for the adults. Gas Mileage is of no concern, her current daily is a Silverado 4-door 4x4 with the 4.8l, so we know what the fuel bill is gonna look like. We both grew up in households that had Suburbans, so Mini-vans are out of the question. We are looking at used trucks, 2009-2013 (that is what we can afford), and her main requirements are Leather interior, Second Row Captains Chairs and Sunroof. All these items seem to be on every Escalade ESV and the Suburban LTZ (No Yukon XL's, my wife is not a fan of the bulbous headlamps on those year trucks). From what I have read the 6.2 is the motor to get for pushing that big vehicle around, but we sorta like the looks of the Suburban better. I do not think the Burbans came with the 6.2 in those years. If we get a Burban with the 5.3 will I regret not getting the 6.2? I have not yet had a chance to test drive either model yet. We are not in a big rush, so I can afford to be picky about what we buy. Are there any major mechanical gotcha's for either motor or transmission combo? Are there any other special differences between the LTZ and the Cadillac models? At first glance they seem to be exactly the same outside of the slight exterior and minor interior style differences. We keep our vehicles a long time and put a lot of mileage on them, so this vehicle will probably stay as our main vehicle for at least 10 years. I know the 6.2 is recommended to use premium gasoline, that is not an issue for this purchase. Thanks for any insight you guys can provide.
