truck was getting fairly rusty in the rockers and cab corners. got a few quotes of $1500+ and up here thats just a 1-2 year fix before it fucks off again. Figured i spend the same money getting a rust free southern cab and spending a weekend swapping it out

Gotta swap entire wiring harness and interior over and a few other little things but overall went smooth had about 30 hours into it. Best part is it should last longer and i got mint floors and such that i wouldnt have got with fixing mine. Might get a southern box and some fenders and just not drive it in the winter anymore.

Always have loved the looks of this truck, one of my favorite on the site. Since you got it all apart now would be the perfect time for a cam, torque converter, longtubes, etc haha

How does that work with the vin? Did you just swap the plates?

I was curious as well. My dad did that on a 52 chevy since his body was rusted. It was a pain to reuse the special rivets.

Looks damn good ! Keep that thing in side during the winter months !!! I'm getting ready to do some extensive rust repair on my duramax also, and it will be getting stored . It's the best thing to do to our trucks to keep them half ass decent .

Thanks guys, i swapped the vin over, on these you can get access to the rear of the rivets through the wiper cowel i took a die grinder and cut the backs off then just glued the vin in. looks factory. Yeah i hope it doesnt have to see winter again. I have a DD so it should be doable.

I had to paint the lower part with rocker guard to match the rest of the truck, its main purpose was to hide the rockers and cab corner rust but now im kinda stuck with it. Also upgraded to NNBS cab lights which are light years ahead of my old recon LED ones that werent as clean in the daytime and at night the 3 seperate lights in the centre looks way better then the solid led light. Kind of an old school 88-98 look at night that i am in love with.

Question.... How difficult to pop NBS doors off hinges?!? I've never had any off and need to tackle my replacement rockers for the RCSB soon....

Doors are unreal easy, open the door on each hinge there is a 10mm bolt that faces out, take them out and another 10mm bolt that is on the cab for the part that makes your door not slam shut. Take that out. The wiring un plugs from the fuse box on each side and fish it through the cab.

Now your door can be lifted off. I've had mine where doors lift off with ease and others that needed a floor jack under them to break them free. Its a 5 min job.

No I had to drill them all. Its not bad to do, if you have NBS ones you cant add nnbs ones or else you will have holes outside the light. The nnbs are much smaller.

so ill just continue this as my truck continues to change, blew the stock lq4 up in the fall it was a high miler with tons of abuse so wasnt to surprised at that. put a cam in a low miler lq4 did long tubes and some other maintence items to it, and put it all in. while it was apart i put a rust free box on it and painted the the truck from the body line down. Also completely debadged the truck and lowered the rear 2". heres some pics of how it sits now.

Haha and I said to do a cam and longtubes earlier in the thread, glad to see it happened. Truck looks much better all white too. Wish I could find a clean rclb near me for a work truck.
