new truck had these on it. took them off. the rubber gasket left marks on the paint. what do I want to use with a DA buffer to get it out? 3M finishing material is too light.

Of course try the least abrasive method and work your way up. If it' the sticky residue from the adhesive have you tried goo gone? After that I'd probably try a Meguiars red compound pad with compound. If that doesn' work they have a microfiber cutting pad that is suppose to be more aggressive.

I know they've been on the HD much longer.... Since 05'. But, unfortunately, no compounding will remove my marks etched in the clear from the rubber "protectant" edging.

I tried Adams green pads/polish. It removed all the faint marks. But the rubber edging etched lines in the clear that I believe would either require wet sanding or worse, re-clear/paint work.
