Makes no sense to drive some piece of shit when you have a newer 4x4 setting in a garage. Just keep it washed of regularly. It's not like it's some classic car.
All it's doing is depreciating while you let it sit.

Who said you need to have a pos as a work slider? I use my truck when it’s shitty outside when the car won’t work. But for everyday use it’s nice to not need to wash it constantly all winter.

I fall into the “don’t get the dd/garages truck” category if the truck is not under construction or purpose built. By the time I buy another car and pay for insurance it would negate any fuel savings/part replacement on the truck it replaced. Plus like said it’s not like I’m driving a 69 Chevelle or something.

I daily drove my 08. And put 100k on it before I had a work car. Once you don’t have to drive your truck everyday for work and running around it’s nice. It becomes more of a treat to take it out and use it. To each their own.

Because when you buy a stickered truck valued at 44k not saying I did, it’s nice to not have a cracked windshield, a stone chipped hood, waxy gm undercoating that peels from salt and salt in places that no man could ever imagine. I like driving my pos Malibu knowing the truck is used for strictly nice weather and it’s a treat for myself. To each their own. Also I don’t give a shit about resale. Not in any hurry to sell this one.

I know I'd get a warm fuzzy feeling writing that $500+ check every month for something that isn't being used

    fuck yes

edit: plus insurance, plus yearly tags, and possible inspection

Who said they weren’t being used? Using it as a commuter to work and to get groceries isn’t exactly fun or worth all the rock and paint chips.

Mine gets used when I need to haul things, want to go off-roading, when there is a foot of snow, and such.

For instance I hand washed it yesterday. This morning the roads were shit so I took the car. After work it’s going to gorgeous out, so I’ll take the nice clean truck to the gym instead of the car.

You sound like an old man with a vintage convertible Mercedes or an Avanti or something

I understand where you're coming from, its nice to keep a nice vehicle nice

but its also corvette owner logic

if you plan on keeping it for years and years, that's cool, but to trade it off for the new model in 2-3 years, its silly, its going to be worth the same amount as one that lived on a dirt road its whole life and got ran through the drive thru car wash at the gas station before being traded off

kind of like the old saying, keeping a vehicle nice for the next owner is like not fucking your girlfriend to keep her tight for the next guy

Lol I have ocd about keeping things clean. If I don’t have to get it dirty I don’t. My 15 that wasn’t driven that much fetched just as much as a nasty one would on a trade in. That doesn’t bother me.

My street and dirt bikes are the same way.

Same. I’d probably make more scratches trying to wash my truck than if I just left it alone. But, no salt here :)

I live on a gravel road, mine gets washed almost weekly regardless of the season. Also I don't like driving boring beat up shit. Lol

I take the insurance off and get a reduced rate. Although, I do pay the state $87 a year for the plate etc etc, $65 for inspection and emissions and $125 for amsoil oil changes. It doesn’t bother me. And when I do sell it at least my last 2 trucks didn’t last long. People know what’s been taken care of and what not. It’s just for my own satisfaction I guess.

I also have a fully decked out Honda and can am set up for mudding and I cringe at people who have no problem sinking a 10g quad in mud. Sure does look good clean with tire shine.
