I recently purchased this Sierra and I notice that the oil pressure gauge is reading 80lbs of oil pressure. The oil level and viscosity is good and the engine is running smoothly. I had heard from a friend that those particular gauges were bad about doing that. Any truth to that? Should I be worried?

I searched around (as I should've done before posting this) and found that it's either the oil pressure sender or the stepper motor. Seeing as how all the other gauges read correctly, I'm going with the sender. I'll be purchasing one next week. Should be a quick and painless repair.

I haven't had a chance to do the install. I'll post the results on this thread as soon as I get around to putting the sender on.

if its pegged to 80 as soon as u turn the key on, its the sender

Sender is extremely easy to change. I literally just did mine yesterday in about 10 minutes

I swapped my sender , it worked for a few months . Then crapped out again
