1) Nelson Tune
2) at least a new high flow muffler
3) Intake of some sort
4) if you still have money left spend it on even better exhaust
5) Your broke now but the next thing on your list should be headers.

I agree with some of the rest, I'm assuming you want only performance mods with this money

Intake System (K&N, Volant, etc)
New Exhaust (Flowmaster, Gibson, etc)
Computer Chip Upgrade (Nelson, Hypertech, etc)

If you don't want to just limit to performance, heres some exterior mods

Billet Grill
Roll pan
Tonneau Cover

Got any pics? You into Lowered, Lifted or just Performance trucks?

The truck is pretty much stock. I'm not really looking into lowering or lifting it. I think im just gonna go for performance. I have an exhaust question. Are any of you guys running a 3" dual in dual out system? If so, did this take away any low end torque?

I would say, keep the $1000 for installation costs, and then apply for a $4000 credit card, and get an STS turbo set up... :)
I doubt he'll be able to get a credit card at such a young age. I think you have to be 18 to get a credit card under your own name, now if his parents want to co-apply for it then thats a different story. Plus I dont think its smart to get yourself in debt to modify a truck. IMO.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Nelson Tune, should definately look into that.

No 3" dual in dual out. I have 2.5" single in 2.5" dual out flowmaster.

Save some money by making a custom intake or buying parts off ebay. I pretty sure that some of these guys have made their own and it only cost them about $50. Then get a custom exhaust. Do some shopping around to save the most money. And last but not least, an upgraded pcm. That will probably get you the most hp gains and cost more than the previous two. If any money left over then save it for some headers.

What gears do you have? 3.42, 3.73???
