I was wondering what the difference was between the two different spindles other than you can run 16" wheels with one and not the other. I know you lose turning radius with the 16, but do you as well with the 17"? I am looking to do a 2/4 drop on my truck, but I read that drop coil springs leave the ride pretty rough. I really don't want to lose turning radius either, but want to keep my 16" wheels/ tires for the winter. I basically want the cake and eat it too.

Just get the 16+ spindles it wont be enough to tell. And ride wont chance much. Coils ride fine just spindles are better.

If you plan on running 16" stockers in the winter then get those if not then the 17" spindles will be fine. I know with Belltech's 2505 (the old design) you can use 16" wheels but the turning radius decreases from 5% to 15%. On the Belltech 2508 that requires 17" wheel the turning radius will have a closer to factory turning radius. Regardless of the manufacturer or truck your turning radius will see a slight decrease.

Fixed. A smaller or "decreased" turning radius would mean tighter turning, which we know is not true of the spindles.

I can only comment on the McGaughy's 16" spindles...

The turning radius was reduced somewhat but being that you have a RCSB it won't be as bad as a ecsb or crew. Be prepared spending some time drilling/cutting the OEM balljoint (4 per side) rivets out. Then the balljoint relocates on top of the LCA instead of inside the LCA's pocket.

how so :hmm:
You said your turning radius was reduced...so that means your truck turned tighter after the spindles? Think of a circle, and what a radius is, a tighter, smaller, reduced, decreased, etc radius means a smaller circle.

Do the 17" spindles reduce turning radius as well? I could probably find some newer stock take-offs 17" or 18" wheels for the winter seeing as how I will need new tires for winter anyway.

I've got the 17" McGaughy's & my turning radius increased. sometimes have problems in drive thru lanes where I have to turn, then back up & turn again to get to the window. Also, can't do a U turn on a street, wind up having to do a K turn.

truetrac out back and heavy foot helps shrink my turning radius! But seriously, I've never had an issue.

I would just get the 17"+ spindle, but keep in mind you'll have to cut off the bottom of the ball joint stud and install a very thin locknut to clear 17's, but this has shown to be of no concern. It's pretty easy to find 17's for winter too.
