1980 rcsb c10 build-frame off

25168 74
Well, here it is...Always wanted a c10 to build and I finally got one. Good friend of mine had it, blew up the motor, took the whole truck apart to do over and lost interest. Picked it up cheap, plan to rebuild and mod it!
Here is where I got it from in his garage...

This build is going to be slow as fuck, I work two jobs, full time student, and have a busy life all around. I hope to be done by spring, but we all know how that goes. Ill update it when I can, and Ill be asking a lot of questions, never done ANYTHING like this, but my dad has and he'll be helping!
Getting it stripped for sandblasting...dads camaro in the background...

PLANS:
came with a 4 link, going to sell it
came with a steel cowl hood, keeping
came with a detriot tru track 12 bolt, posi, 3:73s, so thats done.
came with a 3/5 lowering kit (flip kit and spindles) will probably go lower
-sandblast and paint everything
-probably switch to bucket seats
-all new bushings, shocks, hardware etc. make it drive like new
-run steelies with fat tars for a while then go to 20s, maybe coys
-Im sure a lot more will come along
-and the BIGGEST decision, is either just run the 350 I have for it, or swap in a 5.3 or 6.0 :hmm: been reading a lot of builds, just got to see if its doable for me. Id love to for the fuel economy and power, since I plan to drive the fuck out of this thing when there's no snow!:ninja:
Just want a nice, low static truck I can drive all the time, have fun in, and haul a dirtbike in!
Here's the basic idea...

Looks like a great build. I'm glad I did my '84 right the first time. I hauled my bike around for a while and it did fine

Why dont you do like a fuel injected 383 with a power adder or if you want to keep it simple, just drop a factory 5.3 in it.

Hey frankie, is that truck grey? If it is I think I was looking at that one but he never got back to me oh well! ....haha yeah I'm in for a hell of a ride, never done anything but change wheels and exhuast so this should be a challenge. My dad and his friends have built a lot of vehicles so they'll be helping me along the way, as well as this forum and 67-72, so hopefully I can say I built it when its all done! I think the 6.0 swaps going to be the hardest, but it'll be worth it! Thanks guys. Ill update this when I get the new motor home!
