1992 Silverado Starting Problem

I have a 1992 Chevrolet Siverado 4x4 with a 350 and I drove home from school today and my truck was running fine, then I went out and tried to start it to go to dinner and nothing. Battery is fine, reads out the right volts and everything inside the cab (electrically) comes on, and when I turn the ignition over nothing happens. I tried tapping on the starter and that didn't work. I'm wondering if it could be the starter is bad, if so I am not exactly sure how to remove it because it is not like the starter that was on my 1996 Yukon. Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Travis

well im thinking it might be your starter, or it might be a netural safety switch which really usually doesnt go out, right now i cant think of how to pull out the 92 starter, i think its on the passenger side and you remover a couple of bolts. but thats all.
have your battery tested. you may have a bad cell or two in there. a bad cell will show good voltage at the battery, but you have no amps to crank it over. also check your cable ends, for corroson at the ends and also inside the cable. check your cable end at the starter to see if it is tight, also disconnect the negitive cable when down there with a wrench, or we may be calling you SPARKY :rofl2:

also you should check to see if your getting power to the selenoid when the key is turned to the start pos.

if all checks out good, pull the starter and have checked.

good luck...:caffeine:
