well it's been a long time since i've posted on here...i lurk on the site and never really reply.
well this all started out when the tranny went out. its a 4L60E. so ive started to do a LSx swap. ive pulled the shrouds and radiator, alt, hoses, battery. nothing too special its just a beater with a perfect AC 4 brand new general grabber AT2 tires which are F'n expensive wth was i thinking???! im not going crazy with the truck, i just want to jump in it and beat on it all day and if i had to drive it to new york i could. take it to the track lay down a high 14 and still be dependable.
list is short but its all ive got so far.
frame mounts from autozone bc i have a V6.(55.00)
2000 corvette fuel filter(45.00)
adapter plates(100.00)
(2) 640850
(3) 640860
(2) 610020
(2) 610090
(1) 639200
(1) 800-155(160.00)(do not get the 800-154 it is the 5/16 double bead fuel line and it WILL not fit the vette filter. the damn summit guy is a moron!)
clam shell mounts to bolt to the block(free)
tune is already worked out(100.00)
upper and lower radiator hoses(45.00)
FAST 90mm TB(dbc)(300.00)
2008 vin#J 5.3(950.00)
2006 60E (650.00)
58t to 24t converter(275.00)
TB Stall(275.00)

parts i still need:
fuel pump(170.00)
20' SS line(100.00)
Nelson Performance wiring harness(675.00)
32" radiator and e-fans(500.00)
carrier bearing(25.00)
3:73 gears (200.00)
tru trac and master install kit (400.00 ebay)

i picked this combo up
2008 5.3 Vin# J 1,000 miles 2006 4L60E 22,000 miles.
now all i need is my adapter plates, wiring harness, fuel line, fuel pump, radiator, e fans, tune.

before i tore anything out of it lmao

been on nights this week, so i havent gotten much done other than mounting my external tranny cooler.

there's one more bracket that goes at the bottom but i think this is gonna be ok so i'll see how it goes.
i want to put compression fittings on the cooler into a SS braided line and go to a -6AN fitting into the radiator cooler that way it looks cleaner than the crap that comes with the cooler itself. the cooler isnt very big but then again im not running a huge cam or a large stall (TB Stall) so i think it'll do. only had to drill 1 hole on the left of it to mount to the AC Condensor and a hole in the bracket to mount to the cooler itself. so it was really simple.

i should be picking up my motor and tranny tomorrow but it'll be on a pallet for a week bc ill be on days this week coming. but while i wait on my stall and adapter plates to arrive ill go ahead an do the servos and shift kit. i want it to shift firm at part throttle and firm on the WOT. i just dont want it to snap my neck everytime it shifts at part throttle.

i can't wait to finish this damn thing, the love bugs are killing my truck. plus i want to put gears/stall/shift kit/servos/cam in my CC

small update
enjoy.

2008 5.3 1,000 miles

i don't know why it looks like the top of the valve cover has runs in it. it's in the cast i'd guess. oh well, you can't see it anyways.

its not very hard to do, just time an money lol
the 99-08 4L60E will fit the 88-99 OBS trucks as long as you get tge adapter plates that set the engine in the stock location.

how hard is the wiring portion of this swap?
it depends what motor you get. i picked up an 08 which has a 58toorh count vs the 99-07 classic engines that are 24 tooth count. you can change the tooth if you want by pulling the motor apart and having the gear atthe rear of the crank changed. costly, so i bought the converter(275.00)
if your good with electrical and have a few hours to sit around and read the book on it, it shouldnt be hard. i dont have a harness so im forced to buy a custom one(650.00.) but its only 4 wires too hook up and its really good quality.
ho join LS1truck.com they have a lot of guys over there that have done their own wiring and these swaps for years! thats where im getting most of my information along with my diesel mechanic skills. if you can change your own plugs or redo your own brakes or change your transmission filter without a book, you can do an engine swap.

this was the first plan i had.

buy a 6.0 for my CC (2,000.00 with 1,000 miles) swap it into my CC, take my 5.3 and put it in my WT. ok motor wise its figured out. then id have 2 projects going on which i will tell you i cant afford. my fiance' is in nursing school, and my CC isnt paid for lol. i have a few plans for the CC after this mild bolt on swap is done.

the WT has gotten all its performance parts, now i just need the rest of the parts to finish it and make it street legal.
in due time i will swap in a tru-trac and 3:73s with better brakes. but its not a race toy, just wanting a lil speed and better brakes.

well works beeb hell so i havent worked on the truck any. i ordered a powersteering pump an bracket, a 99-02 valley cover with knock sensor harness. i ordered the LS7 7,000rpm lifters and LS7 lifter trays. i had to order new head bolts, and head gaskets. i picked up a new toy for the truck but its a secert :)
im also going to mill the 799 heads .030* to make them true, also going to be running a 220/224 .581.588 on a 113+4 LSA with 4:10s

it should be a low 15, high 14 truck and still get 17-18mpg

im not painting the truck or anything fancy other than a newer grille and front bumper may do head lights and turn signals too, dunno yet

well im in the market for a LS2 valley cover now considering the damn block doesnt have bosses for knock sensors under the valley cover. i have a few more things ive gotta order or find somewhere. im also thinking of doing a UD pulley cosidering i have to pull the balancer anyways.
im not milling the heads .030* sorry its .003*
ive got the engine on my engine stand at my house finally, i need to start my tranny upgrades. im thinking of building a tranny stand that way i can rotate it however i want, we'll see
