I can't seem to find much on the board that could explain the problem I'm having. The gauge cluster will turn off, like I have shut the key off. It does it when I put the truck in gear, or while I'm driving, or sometimes imeideatly after starting the truck. There is an ses light and when it does this the transmission stays in 3rd gear and does not shift. I'm sure someone has had similar issues, I just can't find them.

I would first check for any codes. Then look for any rubbed through wires causing a short. Possibly on the steering column. If the trans and gauges share a common power wire or ground it could be one problem causing the other.

Thanks for the link. I will try that. I have the dash torn apart and was able to get the gauges to flash while moving the steering wheel tilt up and down, now everything works and I can't get it to do it again. Ugg...
