I dont know much about them but will take any advice to look for?

Would probably help if we knew for sure what year it was. You said 2004 in the title, 2007 in the post. Even at that, both were transition years. 2004 would be LB7 2004.5 would be LLY, 2007 would be LBZ 2007.5 would be LMM.

LB7 is commonly held to be the best for fuel mileage, but power is lacking a little bit in stock form compared to the later engine and it doesn't have the VVT turbo. Injectors are known to be a big/expensive failure point, but there are things you can do to improve their chances.

LLYs are better on the injector issue, although no engine is immune to possible injector failure, they had overheating issues that can easily be fixed by upgrading a few pieces, injector wiring harnesses were commonly rubbed through and shorted, again an easy fix, but annoying to find. Has the VVT turbo.

LBZs are generally the least problematic, unless you look to go over 500hp then the pistons crack, has stronger rods (weakpoint above 500hp on the earlier engines, Delipped LB7 pistons + LBZ rods is a pretty strong setup), more powerful, VVT turbo, has the 6 speed Allison vs the earlier 5 speed,

LMM Basically the same as a LBZ, but with the DPF Emissions crap.

2007 sorry messed up title
Well then it should be the LBZ if it is the NBS body style, and LMM if the NNBS body style.

its the body style before the most recent with the cat eye looking head lights.
LBZ then. Good motor, go for it if the rest of the truck is in good shape. 75k mi isn't bad at all.

yeah 18900$...the carfax says it was hit in front left corner by first owner at 5000 miles.. WOuld you buy this for that? It also has 4" lift and brand new 35's..
Did the wreck occur with the lift on? Any frame damage? $18,900 sounds like a fair price. :imo

I have an 06 LBZ and no complaints so far. Make sure the transmission cooler lines are not leaking, there notorious for this. And if they are, then get aftermarket one's, not stock one's. I got mine from HuskerDiesel.com

And being that it has been wrecked, will that personally perference but I would stay away from it, if it were me. Does it have a salvage title? If so, then pass on it:imo

Just check it over good, I also have an 06 LBZ, only problem I had was the usual leaky trans lines and I replaced them with hyd. Lines and fittings. I bought mine at 75k 1 1/2 years ago and just rolled 85k lol.

Might be hard to tell if the trans lines leak right now since they only do it when its <30 or so outside. Trans lines aren't a big deal. My LBZ would lose less than a quart each winter. Good price for the truck IMO.
