Now that I have the lift done, I am thinking about re-gearing in the future. I know there are a ton of threads about gears, but I couldn't find a direct answer anywhere.
Someone told me that starting around '10-11 GM changed the carriers and now they won't work with any gears above a 4.10. First, is that true? Second, I plan on 4.88's so if that is true, will I need a new carrier for the front and rear or just the rear?
From what I have been reading it seems like the TrueTrac is the way to go. I don't know a ton about lifted trucks, so all of this is pretty new to me. Sorry for all of the questions, I just want to make sure I get everything ordered right the first time around.
you can get away with 4.56's but 4.88 and 5.13 are a better choice. FYI, your truck will feel like 200hp was added to it after you re-gear. Those 3.08's are gutless with stock tire no the less 35's.
