Those with 18's - come on in

Anyone running 305/XX/18s. Looking for some pics. I am wanting to put 18x9.5 wheels on but I think that 305/55/18s will have too high of a sidewall and just wanted to see pics of what people have gone with. I have seen a lot of 285/50/18s. I was looking at the Nitto 404s but the smallest they go with 18s are 55. I have heard good things about Toyo Proxes S/Ts as well. I want something as wide as 9.5 max without rubbing on a 2-4 or 1-3.

Thanks guys,
Andrew

Do you plan on dropping your truck? If so, I wouldn't recommend running wheels/tires that wide.
:word: a 255-275 tire is fine for a 9.5" wheel.

I would have thought with 9.5 wide tire (241.3mm) I would be getting cupping with a 255 or close to it. I was thinking maybe 285. Max drop I would do is a 2-4 with a 1-3 being preferable. The reason I want wider than 255 is because the tires I have now are 255/70/16s and have traction issues with them now. Negleting the fact it will take more to turn the 18s, I would rather not have traction be my limiting factor. Thoughts?

Since you don't plan to lower it much you can get away with the wider tire in the back, but I still wouldn't go that wide up front. If your still on stockers there's most of your traction problems. If you really want to get rid of the traction probles, go with a drag radial.

OK, yeah, 305's are too wide, I've had a couple people tell me 295/45 is about as wide as you can go all the way around without rubbing issues. Right now I am on all season radials, I live in NY so when I get new rims and tires they will be summer tires with the stocks going back on in winter. so you don't think a 255 would cup on a 9.5. I think I'll take your guys' advice and kick the 305 thought out the door, and look at 285 +/-.

Anyone have that range in 9.5s or even 8's for that matter. I am trying to get a good idea as to what sidewall heigth looks best.

Thanks,
Andrew
